Across Categories, Mammut Product Innovations Sweep Up Four ISPO Awards
February 9, 2018
Outerwear, Snow Pack, Beacon, and MIPS Helmet Recognized for Innovation and Performance
Williston, VT (February 9th, 2018) – Mammut, the Swiss-quality leader in alpine gear and apparel, has been recognized for four outstanding new product innovations in the 2018 ISPO awards, including the prestigious Gold award for the Nordwand HS Flex Jacket, featuring GORE-TEX® STRETCH. The Mammut Barryvox S avalanche beacon, Wall Rider MIPS Helmet and Spindrift 14 Snow pack all won ISPO awards in their respective categories after deliberation by a jury of 45 experts including athletes, retailers, and influencers.
Nordwand Flex HS Jacket
This highly elastic hard shell jacket is the pinnacle jacket in Mammut’s Eiger Extreme outerwear collection, developed together with Mammut athletes and designed for climbing and mountaineering. Featuring Mammut’s High Reach Technology™, the jacket provides extreme freedom of movement built with a carefully thought-out combination of 3-layer GORE-TEX® material and highly bi-elastic GORE TEX® STRETCH material to accommodate every movement in alpine terrain.
Barryvox® S
Mammut’s avalanche transceivers are developed and produced entirely in Switzerland and have been setting standards in avalanche safety for over 45 years. The Barryvox® S is designed for a faster, more intuitive search, indicating the distance and direction to the buried subject and providing simple display with extremely precise navigation.
Spindrift 14 Snow Pack
Backcountry ski tours can require many transitions, and backcountry skiers would always like to minimize the number of stops and the time spent still in the elements. The many smart features on this lightweight ski-touring backpack, weighing just 760 grams, have been designed to allow easy and fast handling of layers, skins, and gear. Skis and poles can be secured to the backpack without taking it off, and an integrated, stowable wind protector eliminates the need to continuously put on and take off an additional outer layer.
Wall Rider MIPS Helmet
The Wall Rider MIPS is the first climbing helmet to feature MIPS technology. Should the helmet sustain a lateral impact, the low-friction MIPS layer allows the shell to move. This reduces rotational movement during the impact, which significantly reduces the risk of brain injuries.
“It is a great honor for Mammut to win four ISPO Awards in a single year – in particular the award for the Nordwand HS Flex Jacket. Behind the highly demanding products in the Eiger Extreme collection lies an innovation process amounting to around 25,000 working hours. Acknowledgments such as these encourage us to continue to consistently invest in development and forge new paths while at the same time preserving Mammut’s mountain sports DNA,” commented Adrian Margelist, Chief Creative Officer of the Mammut Sports Group AG.
The ISPO awards were announced at the international trade show in Munich, Germany, and the Mammut products debuted in the US at the Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show in Denver Colorado in January.
