Snow Peak and Rumpl Launch Fire-Resistant Blanket

October 14, 2020

Portland-based brands design a limited-edition blanket for cozy nights around the fire

PORTLAND, Ore. (Oct 14, 2020) – Today, Snow Peak, the leading Japanese outdoor design brand, and Rumpl, the leader in technical blankets, announce the launch of the limited-edition NanoLoft® Takibi Blanket. The two Portland-based brands collaborated to design this exclusive, fire-resistant blanket that combines Rumpl’s proprietary 100% post-consumer recycled NanoLoft insulation with Snow Peak’s fire-resistant ripstop Takibi material. The result is a product perfectly suited for cozy nights around the fire.

The NanoLoft Takibi Blanket will be available for purchase on October 19 via both brands’ ecommerce sites, as well as at Snow Peak’s brick-and-mortar retail locations in Portland and Soho. Additionally, consumers in Japan will have exclusive access to the collaboration on October 17 in time for Snow Peak’s annual Autumn Festival.

From the backyard to the backcountry, Takibi (bonfire in Japanese) is a foundational element of outdoor culture. Takibi Time provides a restorative opportunity to slow down, unplug and connect with one another. The NanoLoft Takibi Blanket complements Snow Peak’s extensive line of Takibi products, built for time around the bonfire.

“As a design-focused company, Rumpl is always on the lookout for unique, inspired brands to partner with in our space. To have the opportunity to work with Snow Peak—a brand that’s not only designing innovative, beautiful product, but that also aligns with our values of making a positive impact on the planet—is an amazing opportunity,” said Wylie Robinson, chief executive officer and founder of Rumpl. “In the era of social distancing, being together in the outdoors has been an essential way of spending safe, quality time with our loved ones. So, as the winter months approach, products like this make continuing to do that not just doable, but enjoyable as well.”

Solving the common problem of burn holes in a favorite blanket or jacket from errant sparks, the NanoLoft Takibi Blanket’s topside is made up of recycled fire-resistant ripstop material that incorporates Aramid, a highly heat-resistant fiber. Each blanket feature’s Rumpl’s 100% post-consumer recycled proprietary NanoLoft insulation, which is made up of tiny circular clusters that mimic the properties of down. Designed to be both durable and functional, users can spend more time enjoying the fire and less time brushing away sparks.

“Takibi Time is central to everything we do at Snow Peak. So it only makes sense that we’d collaborate with Rumpl on a blanket that makes time spent around the fire even more enjoyable,” said Matt Liddle, chief operating officer at Snow Peak USA. “We’ve long admired Rumpl as a fellow Portland-based brand with a focus on sustainability. We’re thrilled that this collab is Rumpl’s first product with 100% post-consumer recycled insulation.”
