Seven-time World champ kicked off season in Alaska with ITI350 on February 28
Pleasant Valley, MO (March 8, 2021) – Chamois Butt’r, the ultimate skin lubricant and chamois cream, is thrilled to partner with seven-time world champion, MTB Hall of Famer, and Emmy Award winner, Rebecca Rusch. Rebecca kicked off her 2021 season in Knik Lake, Alaska at the Iditarod Trail Invitational (ITI350), a 350 mile, invite-only, bike, foot, and ski race that’s run with minimal support on sections of the famed Iditarod dogsled racecourse.
While a long-distance record-setter like Rusch needs and will put Chamois Butt’r products to the ultimate test, it has been her authenticity and commitment to do ‘Good’ beyond her athletic exploits that closed the deal on this latest partnership.
“We were inspired to support this cause after seeing Rebecca’s massive efforts in 2020 to take her events and cause virtual in an authentic way,” said Kara Mathews, Chamois Butt’r marketing and partnerships manager. “This is more than an athlete sponsorship or a virtual ride. Rebecca is a huge personality in the bike world, but to see her pivot a successful in-person event to an even larger, more inclusive, and more inspiring virtual version is a testament to her commitment to these important causes. We’re proud to partner with her.”
Rusch’s Be Good™ Foundation, a 501c3 not for profit organization, encompasses the well-known gravel event Rebecca’s Private Idaho (RPI) gravel ride and race, the new virtual Giddy Up Challenge, as well as various projects and partner collaborations. The Be Good Foundation benefited 13 different cycling, outdoor, COVID relief, and social advocacy organizations with more than $180,000 USD in support for 2020.
“Chamois Butt’r has shown that is a high-quality product people can trust,” said Aerah Hardin, operation manager for the Be Good Foundation. “The Chamois Butt’r team has adapted and developed products to constantly meet the needs of all cyclists. We are excited to share not just the partnership, but that we are working alongside a trusted brand as part of our mission to grow the cycling community.”
The revelation Rusch had with the groundswell success of the Giddy Up Challenge in 2020 is her inspiration to continue doing good for seasons to come.
“By the time I had started my ride [2020 Giddy Up Challenge], we had already won; the event was already a massive success,” said Rusch. “The goal was to have people personally step up and commit and to rally support for global healing. The Be Good Foundation is all about using the bike for empowerment, evolution, and healing. The response gives me hope for what we can do next.”
When the gravel dust cleared, the 2020 Giddy Up Challenge blew up from a single-day event among Rebecca’s friends to a four-day challenge that went viral with a hashtag on social #GiddyUpForGood. Participants broke world records, and the ride had near equal participation from women and men and involved almost 900 riders from 43 states, 11 countries to raise more than $120,000 USD for the Be Good Foundation’s beneficiaries and COVID relief.
Chamois Butt’r hopes even more riders will join in supporting Rusch and her Be Good Foundation in the 2021 season.
