Two-time gold medalist, five-time all-star, and social activist Angel McCoughtry joins Honey Stinger’s growing athlete community
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (March 29, 2021)— Honey Stinger, the sports nutrition brand, is excited to announce its partnership with Olympian and professional basketball player Angel McCoughtry.
McCoughtry is a five-time All-Star, two-time scoring champion, seven-time all-defensive player, and two-time Olympic gold medalist. She led the Atlanta Dream to three WNBA Finals appearances before taking the Las Vegas Aces to last year’s Finals. Additionally, McCoughtry is a social activist who championed the WNBA to place Breonna Taylor’s name on their jerseys, helping to shape the league’s commitment to social justice. McCoughtry used her influence as an athlete and community leader to help drive voter registration and turnout during the 2020 election.
“On and off the court, Angel’s work and dedication is exceptional and we are thrilled to be partnering with her,” said Mike Keown, CEO of Honey Stinger. “Angel brings years of experience to the table, both as an athlete and an advocate. I believe this is only the beginning of a great partnership.”
McCoughtry will be an active member of Honey Stinger’s Athlete Advisory Committee—a group developed to address social change, diversity, and inclusion, and cultivate initiatives that will allow Honey Stinger to foster positive change. Additionally, Honey Stinger and McCoughtry will work together to develop a signature community initiative that will allow her, and the brand, to broaden their reach and impact.
“I’m very excited to be an ambassador of a company like Honey Stinger. Our values align when it comes to high performance and giving back to the community for social change. I do a lot of giving back to our communities and teaming up with Honey Stinger will increase the visibility of that work, ultimately allowing more to be done in our communities,” says McCoughtry. “The company’s focus on empowering athletes who are committed to their communities resonates deeply with me. As the company’s first WNBA athlete, I am honored for the opportunity and can’t wait to see what we build together.”
With Honey Stinger as her official sports nutrition partner through 2023, McCoughtry will prepare, perform and recover with the brand’s full line of energy chews, waffles, bars, and gels.
