April 20, 2021
The brand’s Spring ‘21 lineup includes three new footwear designs and groundbreaking PFD
Asheville, NC – April 20, 2021 – Astral, manufacturer of award-winning PFDs and footwear, is excited to unveil their Spring ’21 new product lineup, including three new footwear styles and a brand new PFD material, marking the next big step in manufacturing. The footwear lineup includes two new additions to Astral’s TR1 series of trail shoes, the TR1 Scuffler and TR1 Loop, as well as the Pisgah, Astral’s first breathable waterproof boot. The brand is also unveiling their newest PFD, the Ceiba, which features the first-ever bluesign® approved shell.
Astral’s first ever breathable waterproof boot, the Pisgah is built with a 100% recycled post-consumer plastic canvas. One of the most lightweight waterproof boots on the market, the Pisgah is a tough trail shoe with stylish modern looks. It’s built on the same grippy outsoles as the shoes in the TR1 series, and it also features a TPU welded toe cap for extra durability. The Pisgah owes its military-inspired look to CEO and designer Philip Curry’s time spent in Vietnam, where he absorbed the style and performance capabilities of several boots, including the kinds worn by the Viet Cong. Named for the National Forest near Astral’s Asheville headquarters, the waterproof yet breathable Pisgah is at home in warm, wet environments, on the trail or in town. The Pisgah is available in both men’s and women’s sizes for $150.
Designed by women for women, the lightweight TR1 Loop is perfect for almost any type of out and back adventure. The engineered mesh upper is seamlessly made from 100% recycled polyester to provide exceptional breathability and incredibly fast drying time. A TPU frame provides abrasion resistance and foot support, while the toe and heel are capped for durable protection. It’s built on the same Trail Grip outsole as other shoes in the TR1 series, and features super sticky G®rubber with 5 mm lugs to provide great traction. Drainage holes help get rid of excess water fast. The shoe is machine washable and the footbed is treated with Polygiene®to resist odors. Available now in women’s sizes, in 3 different colorways, for $125.
Probably Astral’s most rugged trail shoe yet, the TR1 Scuffler is still a lightweight trail shoe with quick-drying ripstop mesh and a TPU overlay for added durability. Light foam at the collar and tongue provide additional comfort, while a rigid Top Shank between the insole and outsole helps reduce foot fatigue by absorbing impact and conforming to the ground for a smooth ride over rugged terrain. It features the same super sticky G®Rubber Trail Grip outsole as the Loop and the other shoes in the TR1 series, so you can have confidence while carrying a heavy pack over wet granite. It is available in men’s sizes, in 3 colorways, for $125.
The first life jacket to be made with a bluesign® approved shell, the Ceiba is the most eco-conscious PFD Astral has ever designed. Its front panels are filled with sustainable, all-natural kapok (a natural floatant derived from the Ceiba pentandratree) while the back panels are filled with recycled Gaia foam. With nine adjustment points, fleece-lined pockets, and the body-conforming comfort of downy kapok, the Ceiba is not only the most sustainable lifejacket on the market, but also one of the most comfortable. Best suited for cold waters, temperate climates, and casual use from touring to light whitewater, this USCG Type III life jacket is available in 3 colors for $140.
