Salt Lake City-based ski maker launches limited-edition all-mountain and touring skis, accessories during 17-day annual promotion
SALT LAKE CITY (July 22, 2021) — DPS Skis, the U.S.-based ski manufacturer pairing space-age carbon technology with groundbreaking shapes, announces the start of its annual Dreamtime event on July 26. Running through August 11, Dreamtime will see DPS release limited models, including Special Edition Pagoda Tour skis, two limited creations from the Powderworks division, a pair of tech binding models, and two glove styles. Consumers can take part in Dreamtime 2021 at ww.dpsskis.com or at their favorite DPS retailer.
DPS first introduced Dreamtime in 2012 to serve as a mid-summer chance for skiers to start dreaming about winter adventures to come. Today, it marks a 17-day window for dedicated skiers around the globe to get lost in the heat-induced daydreams of cold smoke, build the perfect quiver, and visualize how their bodies and equipment will work in unison when the snow begins to fall again. It is a time when the DPS manufacturing team is hard at work bringing to life innovative dream projects while also crafting skis for the coming season.
“Behind winter, Dreamtime is our second favorite season of the year. It’s a time for DPS to show off our favorite designs and creations with the ski community. We strive to bring the most innovative products to you each season and we can’t wait to share our latest iterations,” says Thomas Laakso, vice president of product and operations at DPS.
Special Edition skis are released once per year, exclusively at Dreamtime. The skis are small-batch creations made in DPS’s Salt Lake City factory, never to be reproduced. For the first time, the 2021 Special Edition offering is built using the Pagoda Tour construction, which blends a proprietary carbon laminate with a combination of ash and paulownia woods and a purpose-built aerospace grade foam to produce a distinct combination of power, energy and dampness. The Special Edition Pagoda Tour ($1,299) is only available during Dreamtime, discounted by $200 and available in two designs and models, Early Riser and Midnight Rider, at 100 RP and 112 RP shapes in a variety of lengths.
In addition to the Pagoda Tour, DPS announces the new Pagoda construction. The Pagoda collection is a nod to DPS’s 15 years engineering carbon fiber skis. The new construction performs well in both resort and backcountry settings, providing a unique combination of both a vertically and horizontally layered core that quiets inconsistencies and elevates the electricity of carbon. The Pagoda ($1,299) will be available throughout the 2021-22 season and is discounted by $200 during Dreamtime. The skis will come in four different models and lengths, including 100 RP, 106 C2, 112 RP, and Lotus 124.
DPS also introduces two tech binding models, the DPS R10 ($599.95) and DPS R14 ($749.95). The bindings are the result of a co-branded partnership with Italian manufacturer ATK Bindings. The DPS R10 is a lightweight performance binding for speed touring, while the DPS R14 is built for freeride touring, providing a neutral stance and natural ski balance.
Additional Dreamtime 2021 products include two limited-run Powderworks skis ($1,399), two new Koala ($1,299) models, a new look for the Foundation ($1,299) line, and two styles of gloves, the DPS P3 Gloves ($99.95) and DPS T1 Gloves ($74.95).
Special Edition skis, in-line 2021-22 collections, and limited-run skis will be reduced by $200 and all accessories, including apparel, gear, and PHANTOM are reduced by 15 percent during Dreamtime, the only off-price window of the year for DPS. The collections will be available at dpsskis.com and at select online and brick-and-mortar retail partners. For information on select retail partners, please visit: dpsskis.com/dealer-locator
