DPS Unveils New Touring Bindings, Gloves and Climbing Skins

September 8, 2021

Salt Lake City-based ski maker expands their premium offering beyond specialty skis.

SALT LAKE CITY (September 8, 2021) — DPS Skis, the U.S.-based ski manufacturer pairing space-age carbon technology with groundbreaking shapes, introduces a range of premium accessories for the Winter 2021/22 season, including two touring bindings, two glove models, and climbing skins. The new range of gear from DPS Skis is available today online at dpsskis.com or at your local DPS dealer.

DPS is well known for building the best of the best for discerning skiers. VP of Product and Operations Thomas Laakso explains, “If we can’t build it ourselves, we’ll partner with the best that can. But only if we can provide a DPS twist that uniquely fulfills our performance goals.”

New for 2021, the DPS R14 ($749.95) and DPS R10 ($599.95) launched during the brand’s DREAMTIME summer promotion. The bindings are the result of a co-branded partnership with Italian manufacturer ATK Bindings. The DPS R10 is a lightweight performance binding for speed touring, weighing in at a scant 260 grams per pair and featuring an individually controlled release value of 5–10, a fully functioning integrated brake, and crampon compatibility. The R10 binding is available in four brake widths between 86–108mm.

The DPS R14 is built for freeride touring, providing the most neutral stance and natural ski balance in a package that is lighter weight than any competitor in the category. The R14 binding features individually adjustable heel release values from 8–14 with a patented cam system that makes step-in smooth and easy regardless of release settings. A unique adjustable boot stomp pad allows the boot heel to sit flush against the structure of the binding to improve energy transfer through the heel compared to a boot resting unsupported on the pins. The DPS R14 is available in five brake widths between 97–120mm.

DPS partners with local stand-out Truck Gloves to service both warm and cold blooded skiers.  The new DPS P3 Glove ($99) is a high-performance, mid-winter glove ideal for cold chairlift days or stormy outings in the backcountry. Available in three colorways, it features a short cuff with a low-profile design for ease of maneuverability. The P3 is constructed of goat leather with a waterproof Purelle membrane and insulated with Thinsulate and polar fleece.

DPS T1 Glove ($74) is a mid-weight, all-purpose mountain glove with exceptional dexterity and durability. It is a classic workhorse glove for mountain ops groups and core skiers who run warm. It features a goat leather outer with Thinsulate and polar fleece insulation and reinforced wear areas for durability. This glove provides medium warmth; it is ideal for mixed activities such as touring, spring days, or if your hands run warm.

In partnership with Pomoca, the global leader in climbing skins, DPS Skins ($219.95–$249.95) are built in the 70% mohair, 30% nylon Climb Pro S-Glide spec. Utilizing a custom DPS designed metal tail clip this simple yet high performance package makes for one less concern to think of on the ascent. DPS Skins are available in pre-trimmed shapes, perfectly cut to DPS sidecuts and lengths, or trim-to-fit with an intuitive cutting tool.
