An Extension of Cotopaxi’s Mission to Inspire Adventure and Move People To Do Good
Salt Lake City, UT. February 1, 2022 /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Outdoor gear brand, and certified B Corp, Cotopaxi is proud to announce their Do Good Ambassador team. The Do Good Ambassadors are a group of mentors, humanitarians, environmentalists, creators, and community leaders, and Cotopaxi is excited to help celebrate their passions, stories, advocacies and efforts to make an impact in the world. These ambassadors are an extension of Cotopaxi’s brand and mission to harness the power of adventure to make the world a better place. Meet the Cotopaxi Do Good Ambassadors:
Surfer, Veteran, and nonprofit founder Mario Ordonez-Calderon is inspired by humans’ symbiotic relationship with nature. Mario believes that mountains and oceans give us clarity, calm and connection and that it is our duty to protect them. This notion sparked the genesis of Un Mar De Colores, his nonprofit focused on inspiring inclusivity and celebrating diversity through surf therapy for children of color and/or underserved youth. You can find Mario and his nonprofit at @marrioo and @un.mar.de.colores
Disabilities activist, runner, and nonprofit founder Nicole Ver Kuilen is driving access and awareness for adaptive sports. Nicole lost her leg to bone cancer at age 10 and was denied access to a running prosthesis by her health insurance. That moment propelled Nicole on a global journey and life mission to expand access to assistive technology for the disability community. Nicole is now an ambassador for nonprofit ROMP, bringing access to prosthetic care in Ecuador and Guatemala, as well as the founder of the nonprofit advocacy organization, Forrest Stump, with the mission of promoting adaptive sports and fitness devices for people with limb loss and other physical disabilities. Find Nicole and her nonprofit at @runforreststump
Mountaineers, world record holders, and school founders Tashi and Nungshi Malik are working to empower girls and women to participate in outdoor and mountain sports. To maximize their impact in their homeland of South Asia, the Malik’s started the NungshiTashi Foundation in 2015. Founded to encourage equal and active participation of women in the outdoors by providing public school programs and adventure activities that build confidence, leadership skills, and outdoor livelihoods. Find Tashi and Nungshi at @twinclimbers.
Scientist, a conservationist, and television host, Danni Washington, works as a full-time science communicator, at the intersection of science and the public. She uses her expert knowledge to educate and entertain the world specifically about the importance of environmental conservation. Danni is also the co-founder of Big Blue & You, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring and educating youth about marine science education through the arts and media. Volunteers, adventure travelers and community leaders, Matt Grooms and Grace Nesseth use social media to spread positivity, create change and make an impact. Matt and Grace Walked Across America in 2020 and fell in love with the United States and the people in it. They decided to buy a short bus, turned it into their home, and are now spending 30 days in each of the 50 states exploring hidden gems, meeting kind humans and most importantly helping a local nonprofit in each state. Matt and Grace’s mission is to inspire others to find love in the little things, follow their adventures at @theggoldenroad
Lauren Ferree is a climate activist, environmental storyteller, producer, and community leader. Born and raised in California with familial roots in Argentina, Lauren has an affinity for the beach and ocean, and working with the Surfrider Foundation to help protect those ecosystems was her entry into the environmental space. Now Lauren dedicates her time to educating others on the climate and global waste crisis while sharing inspiring, sustainable steps individuals can do to harness our power, take action, and demand change. Follow Lauren at @relauren
With the help of these ambassadors, Cotopaxi will tell a bigger story when it comes to Do Good and encourage others to take part in the efforts of building community, helping others, and spreading good. To learn more visit: cotopaxi.com/pages/do-good-ambassadors
