La Sportiva Releases Three New Ski Touring Boots For Fall 2022
March 17, 2022
March 17th, 2022 (BOULDER, Colo.)/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – La Sportiva, makers of the world’s finest mountain goods, today announces their Fall 2022 ski hardgoods collection. The Italian brand is releasing three new lightweight touring boots, the Skorpius CR II, the Solar II and the Stellar II. These boots are designed for backcountry touring and ski mountaineering objectives, keeping weight to a minimum without sacrificing performance while skiing. Versatility and responsibility define the brand’s ski offerings for Fall 2022. The eco-friendly Capo, Tempo, and Salto are lightweight touring skis that utilize a petroleum-free polyamide top sheet made from castor oil and come equipped with edges composed of 50% recycled steel.
“Our designers have been hard at work finding ways to improve the comfort and performance of our ski touring boots, as highlighted by the new features in the Skorpius CR II,” says Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “This year, we took three great lightweight ski boots and made them even better. New materials and technologies allow us to create lightweight boots like these that perform incredibly well on the uphill and the downhill. The Skorpius CR II is a boot that fits the needs of the modern backcountry skier, as it excels on the skin-track while still maintaining the ability to drive bigger skis with confidence.”
The $849 eco-friendly Skorpius CR II keeps a lot of what worked with the first model and offers some key updates that make this version even better. The carbon-reinforced Pebax RNew bio-based shell is an environmentally responsible alternative to typical plastics and is derived from castor seeds instead of petroleum. The 1190 gram boot has a 100 flex and is an excellent option for bigger days in the backcountry as it is light enough for long tours but offers plenty of performance on the downhill. While this boot is undoubtedly lightweight, the Skorpius CR II shines in its ability to push wider skis with ease.
The new EZ 3D Flex Tongue with Boa Fit System® in the Skorpius Cr II provides excellent heel hold and incredible midfoot retention that distributes pressure better than other closure systems, creating a precise fit that inspires confidence on the descents. The Skorpius CR II has an impressive range of motion of 68 degrees and comes with a removable Warmsole polyurethane insert that helps to insulate the boot and keep feet warm. Three forward lean settings allow skiers to adjust the angle of the boot to match up with their skiing style.
Designed for touring and ski mountaineering objectives, the Solar II for men and Stellar II for women are versatile, lightweight, and provide exceptional range of motion, making these boots ideal for demanding uphill and downhill use. These boots have an environmentally friendly Pebax Rnew shell and come with a patented SWING-LOCK ski/walk system that makes switching from ascent to descent mode incredibly easy. The second edition of these boots get the BOA® treatment, which provides a more secure and customizable fit. The Stellar II weighs a mere 1075 grams, and the Solar II comes in at 1185 grams. The Solar II and Stellar II are comfortable boots that are fast on ascents and offer performance and a progressive flex on the descents. Both of these boots have a flex of 90, a last width of 102.5, and an MSRP of $799.
The Salto, Tempo, and Capo skis are light enough to get you to the top of the skintrack with ease and feature a solid wood core construction that allows them to handle varied and challenging conditions on the descent. The 92 mm waisted Salto uses a X45 laminated Paulownia core with vertical aluminum reinforcements. This construction helps to keep the ski lightweight while still maintaining the stiffness needed to hold an edge on the steepest and firmest of descents. Weighing in at 1470 grams, this lightweight ski features an ample amount of shovel and rocker that help the ski float in deep snow.
The Capo and Tempo are wider waisted skis that feature a very similar construction to the Salto, with the primary difference being that they use a lightweight Poplar core that is supported by Paulownia strips and carbon reinforcement. The Capo is 117mm in the waist, has a MSRP of $899, and is available in 166, 178, and 189 mm lengths. The 103mm waisted Tempo comes in 168, 179, and 190 mm lengths. It has an MSRP of $799. The Salto has a retail price of $999 and is available in 168, 178, and 188mm lengths.
These new models will be available at fine specialty retailers across the country and at www.sportiva.com in Fall 2022. During the winter of 2021/2022, select samples for media are available by working with PR representatives Cory Lowe at Cory.Lowe@BackboneMedia.net or Sean Van Horn at Sean.Vanhorn@backbone.media.
