July 13, 2023
The Writing of Edward Abbey, Royal Robbins, Katie Lee and Others Featured In Season 1
North Lake Tahoe, CA /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – In celebration of the 200th issue of Mountain Gazette arriving this fall, Mountain Gazette, in collaboration with Stio and Gordini, are launching Mountain Gazette Library, an audiobook series hosted and read by Los Angeles-based podcast producer Jon Buzdar. Buzdar, a recent grad, is also a contributor to the magazine.
Listen here for the first episode available now with new episodes releasing weekly. The podcast follows a long-form storytelling format to showcase stories from Mountain Gazette’s archive of issues now available to readers for the first time since its initial publishing.
“For the last three years we’ve tried to tackle how best to open the archive to our community,” said Mountain Gazette Editor Mike Rogge. “With Mountain Gazette Library, we’re not entering the talk-show podcast game so much as presenting our stories in a tasteful, audiobook format. Like our magazine, the episodes avoid the immediacy of the modern internet and instead focus on the long form storytelling the title is known for.”
The 10-episode series will feature ten stories from the Mountain Gazette archive. Founded in 1966, the magazine’s contributors include Edward Abbey (Episode 1), Royal Robbins (Episode 2), Katie Lee (episode 3), and more. Other current and former Mountain Gazette contributors in the first season include Barry Corbet, Sadie Stein, Norman Maclean, Doug Schnitzspahn, Peter Kray, Randy LaChapelle, and Ingrid Backstrom. Plans for a second season are currently underway.
The Mountain Gazette Library is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Mountain Gazette 200 will be available this fall to subscribers exclusively. Learn more at MountainGazette.com/subscribe.
