Stromer ST5 Pinion Smart.Shift – the executive among the S-Pedelecs

The Stromer ST5 offers maximum power and range, fully integrated design and exclusive high-end components for the greatest performance and excellent riding dynamics. This Speed Pedelec is perfectly tailored for commuting and will be available at the end of 2023 (in Europe) for the first time with the electronic Pinion Smart.Shift shifting system used on the Stromer ST7 in combination with a 9-speed Pinion C 1.9 gearbox, fully integrated ABS (front), and Alps Alpine acoustic module for high-quality feedback sounds when switching off and connecting the charger. The 750-watt rear-wheel motor with Sport mode ensures powerful, dynamic and silent riding joy with assistance up to 45 km/h (28 mph). The ST5 is low maintenance and easy to care for thanks to the electric Pinion gearbox and the Gates carbon belt drive. It is equipped with high-end components such as Brooks handlebar grips, Selle Royal Vivo saddle, Supernova M99 Pro 2 headlight and TRP HD944 four-piston brakes.

Stromer ST3 Alinghi Red Bull Racing Special Edition

As the official e-bike sponsor of the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Team Stromer is launching another special model to celebrate the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Team’s participation in the America’s Cup 2024. The special edition comes with an exclusive Alinghi Red Bull Racing bag and the Stromer Alinghi Red Bull Smart Helmet, which are only available in a set with the e-bike.

Stromer Smart Helmet AURA by Unit 1 – winner of the Eurobike Award

Focusing on safety during your daily commute in urban traffic is not only important during the development of Stromer Speed Pedelecs.

To increase commuter safety, Stromer already launched a helmet in cooperation with Unit 1 in 2023. The Smart Helmet is equipped with a modern light system with a front and rear light and can be paired to the Stromer via Bluetooth. When braking, a signal is sent to the helmet that amplifies the rear light to act as a brake light. The integrated Mips system reduces the effects of rotational energy on the head while clever ventilation allows optimum air circulation. This new Smart Helmet model weighs a scant 370 g and is particularly breathable thanks to its 16 ventilation openings.

Desiknio highlights 2024

Desiknio, a subsidiary brand of Stromer, handcrafts light, elegant micro-mobility city bikes and e-gravel bikes with assistance up to 25 km/h (15 mph). Following successful development cooperation with Pinion and the resulting integration of the Pinion Smart.Shift system in the Stromer ST7, the next logical step is the collaboration between Pinion and Desiknio. Desiknio is thus the first brand in the urban Class 1 e-bike segment (15 mph) to work with Pinion to integrate the Smart.Shift system into two new models.

Desiknio X20 Pinion Smart.Shift – next-level light e-drive integration

In 2017 Desiknio took part in the development of the Mahle X35 system and was the first brand to introduce an urban e-bike with this system. In 2018 the Desiknio Pinion was the world’s first light e-bike with a gearbox and a fully integrated system, the Mahle X35. In 2022 Desiknio was the first brand to introduce an urban bike with the new Mahle X20.

At Eurobike 2023 Desiknio presented another world first in light e-bike technology: The Desiknio X20 Pinion Smart.Shift combines the maintenance-free Pinion gearbox with electric shifting system, a belt drive made of carbon, the Mahle X20 rear wheel hub motor with 250 watts and an integrated 250-Wh battery – at a weight of less than 15 kg (33 lbs).

Stromer is the first bike brand to develop a next-generation solid-state ceramic battery

Car manufacturers like Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW have long been investing in the development of new batteries. As the leading innovator in the fast e-bike segment, it is essential that Stromer helps to shape sustainable innovations. Together with the innovation partner TD Hitech Energy, Stromer has been working for some time on the next-generation solid ceramic battery for e-bikes and is presenting its first rideable prototype battery at Eurobike.

Solid-state batteries are an innovative technology in the area of energy storage and offer a series of advantages for e-bikes. In the coming years Stromer will be intensively committed to the further development of this new generation of batteries.

The main tasks in the developers’ specification sheets are low-temperature charging up to ‑20 °C (the goal is -30 °C), a significantly higher degree of safety compared to current batteries as well as shorter charging times with fast chargers (3C rate = only around 20 min; the goal is 5C rate = only 12 min).

Co-CEO Tomi Viiala: “As an innovative brand, we also want to be involved in the early stages of research and development for new technologies. The solid-state ceramic battery is our holy grail. It will take many more years before this technology can be used for series production, as the current production costs remain very high and the battery power is still inadequate. This new technology can provide many benefits in the future, however, particularly in terms of safety and the speed until fully charged, which will be around 10 times faster than for a current lithium battery.”
