Project16x Kicks Off 2019 with OtterBox and Fjallraven, While Awarding Three New Grants
June 26, 2019
Project16x expands with a total of four womxn’s leadership summits in 2019 and three grantees.
DURANGO, COLORADO, (June 26, 2019) — In partnership with OtterBox and Fjallraven, Project16x, a womxn’s leadership summit gathering 16 forward-thinking, influential womxn, from the outdoor industry and beyond, hosts four summits and awards three grantees for 2019.
First established to connect leaders and emerging leaders in the outdoor community, Project16x has evolved into a space for womxn to convene in the outdoors and find tangible ways to work together to progress leadership and equality in the outdoor industry. Womxn who attend are devoted to paving a positive path for our communities and encouraging more womxn leaders. This is accomplished through intentional long-term relationship building, directed and inspired conversations, and a grant created for spirited womxn entrepreneurs, artists and activists and ongoing support from our innovative sponsors.
“We at Fjällräven are thrilled to support the awesome team at Project16x, yet again, as a title sponsor,” says Casey Lorenzen, Content Manager at Fjällräven. “The engagement that they create around these events is second to none, as they foster genuine immersion that allow us to encompass our brand values to a strong group of women. This has become an event that our team looks forward to backing every year and something the women leading Fjallraven love to be involved in.”
“We are so honored to be a part of Project16x,” says Kristen Tatti, Communications Manager at OtterBox. “We believe the outdoors are for everyone and that the women leading the outdoor industry are really guiding the way for positive change and growth in our community. Project16x is an amazing forum for discussing the topics facing us today and in the future, and we look forward to supporting and getting to know the women that commit to joining these summits.”
Additional 2019 Project16x sponsors include HOKA ONE ONE and Big Agnes. Thank you to all of the brands that haven given Project16x your support.
In 2018, the Project16x grant was first created to fuel future leadership opportunities for womxn with bright ambition. Funded by the womxn who attend Project16x, the grants hope to propel womxns’ businesses, progressive art endeavors, activism and philanthropy. This year, three grants will be awarded to womxn-led organizations that are dedicated to diversifying the outdoor industry — LatinXHikers, Native Women’s Wilderness, and Braided Fly Fishing — totalling $4,000 in funding.
“I am so passionate about each of these womxn-led organizations and the ladies working so hard behind them,” says Amanda Goad, Project16x founder. “One of our goals at Project16x is to continue to support the strong-willed, smart and innovative women that believe in the mission behind our summits and I’m thrilled that we get to do this through our annual grants, funded by attendees for the year.”
