Leading organizations partnering for NOLS course endorsements and professional development opportunities for AMGA members
LANDER, Wyo. – June 11, 2024 /OUTDOORSPORTSWIRE/ – The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) are pleased to announce that AMGA has endorsed the NOLS Risk Management Training for Administrators (RMT) course and the Wilderness Risk Management Conference (WRMC) as a pre-approved continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities for its members.
As a result of this partnership, NOLS is offering all AMGA members a discount on the RMT and an additional discount on the WRMC for AMGA instructors, AMGA-accredited businesses, Climbing Wall Instructor (CWI) Providers, and Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) Providers.
“We are excited to announce our partnership with NOLS,” said Jaime Politte, AMGA Membership and Communications Director. “This collaboration aims to enhance our commitment to safety and excellence in mountain guiding and climbing instruction through Risk Management resources.”
The NOLS RMT course is tailored for outdoor professionals and program administrators. It provides a framework for designing risk management systems for programs operating in remote environments. Participants leave the course having built an action plan to improve their organization’s risk management practices.
The WRMC is scheduled for October 15-17 this year in Salt Lake City, Utah. This annual risk management conference provides an educational experience that helps programs mitigate the risks of exploring, working, teaching, and recreating in the wilderness. The WRMC attracts leaders of organizations operating in remote environments to share best practices and learn about the latest developments for outdoor professionals.
“AMGA and NOLS are deeply committed to developing and upholding sound risk management practices,” stated Amy Lones, NOLS Risk Services Program Manager. “Their endorsement of the RMT program and WRMC will offer vital opportunities to continue developing connections and dialogue within the outdoor community on current and emerging risk management topics. We are excited to expand our relationship with the AMGA and be a part of their members’ professional development.”
