PAKA brings business back home to Peru with launch of flagship store

June 13, 2024

Returning to the brand’s roots, the store will also serve as a central meetup location for guides and international travelers while exploring Peru.

Boulder, CO (June 13, 2024)/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – PAKA, the sustainable alpaca clothing brand best known for outdoor apparel, proudly announces the grand opening of its flagship store in Cusco, Peru. This marks PAKA’s first physical retail location. The store is intended to be a meeting place for local guides and international travelers to connect. The location honors the brand’s roots, sitting in the heart of the historic streets of Cusco, where the founder first met the artisans who inspired the brand. That original workshop in Cusco remains central to production today.

“Cusco is where this all started, and the community here has always been at the core.” said Kris Cody, Founder and CEO. “We poured our hearts into creating this first physical home to honor that connection, and to create a space for our community to meet up and go exploring together. I think we’re all excited to witness the adventures that come out of it.”

The store features PAKA’s current online offerings as well as exclusive in-store products. It also houses a café, Sebastian’s Coffee Hut, offering local baked goods, trail snacks, superfood smoothies, and organic, single-origin Peruvian coffee. The space includes an adventure zone for local guides to host trek briefings, workshops, and public talks.

PAKA was founded in 2017, while Kris Cody was trekking through Peru and experienced his first alpaca fiber sweater – Kris returned to the country to learn more, training and living alongside local Peruvian weaver Gregoria Mamani before crafting the first edition of PAKA’s Original Hoodie. After launching and successfully growing through the brand’s first Kickstarter campaign, PAKA has operated a full DTC retail model until now.

The new flagship store sits in the heart of Cusco, steps away from the Cathedral del Cusco and is located at historic Sta. Catalina Angosta 139 with an original Inca wall entrance. Store and cafe hours are from 8am to 8pm daily.
