Rumpl Debuts its Most Rugged and Versatile Performance Blanket
October 1, 2024
The Backcountry Puffy Blanket features a new, ultra-durable material—SummitShield™
Portland, Oregon (October 1, 2024)/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Rumpl proudly announces its toughest, warmest, most space-efficient and capable blanket yet, the Backcountry Puffy Blanket. This fresh release marks the pinnacle of versatility and durability in the category that Rumpl created—Technical Blankets. Now, adventure seekers of all stripes can bring performance and comfort to places never thought possible.
When space and weight are at a premium, outdoor enthusiasts face the age-old dilemma: bring creature comforts or rough it. Rumpl’s Backcountry Puffy deems this question one of the past. With the ability to compress the blanket down to an impressive 5.5” x 10” thanks to a new Roll-Top Stuff Sack and a 1P-sized weight of just 1.76lbs, hikers, paddlers, climbers or van-lifers—anyone who constantly balances space, weight and comfort—can now enjoy warmth, sun protection and ground cover wherever adventure brings them.
The Backcountry Puffy Blanket introduces a new material technology, Rumpl’s SummitShield™. This polyester liner is 100% post-consumer recycled and, because of its unique diamond pattern 50D Ripstop, increases the blanket’s abrasion-resistance and overall durability to allow users to double the blanket as a ground mat, worry-free. Rumpl’s proprietary Renewed NanoLoft™ Insulation is synthetic down that features an upgraded plant-based formula that uses 30% less energy and releases 63% fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to Nylon 6. This insulation is designed to maximize compression and rebound, enhance heat retention, stay warm even when wet, and minimize clumping after washes. Rumpl’s VersaWeave™ 30D Ripstop shell and PFAS-free DWR treatments round out the build for unparalleled protection from even the harshest of conditions.
While Rumpl’s Backcountry Puffy Blanket is 25% lighter, warmer and more packable than the brand’s recently re-released Original Puffy, it shares the same ergonomic, redesigned Cape Clip® that allows users to wear the blanket hands-free over their shoulders, connect two together and even fold their blankets into a makeshift sleeping bag. Plus, the introduction of a zippered corner pocket provides a dedicated space for a headlamp, pocket knife, lighter or any other necessities within arm’s reach.
“All of our blankets are designed with the outdoors in mind, but our Backcountry Puffy really pushes the performance envelope,” says Wylie Robinson, Rumpl founder and CEO. “Packing comfort and utility without the extra burden is one of the most common predicaments amongst outdoor enthusiasts. We believe our Backcountry Puffy is the solution. It’s so much more than a blanket – we’ve packed in warmth, ground cover, weather resistance, sun protection, and creature comfort for those who seek out the uncomfortable. When adventure calls for one, this is the only one you’ll need.”
For those ready to pack comfort into uncomfortable places, the Backcountry Puffy can be purchased at Rumpl.com, starting at $149. For more information, please contact Scout Petersen at scout@purpleorangepr.com.
