Resiliency and Aid Are in The East Coast Surf and Outdoor Brand’s DNA
Manahawkin, NJ – October 11, 2024 /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/– Jetty, the East Coast surf apparel company with a growing presence in the outdoor and active lifestyle markets, announces its Unite+Rebuild campaign to raise money for those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The New Jersey-based brand has a tradition of coming to the aid of communities that extends back almost two decades. 100% of profits will directly benefit those in need.
Jetty’s latest charitable initiative includes a donation page to accept funds as well as a special edition Unite+Rebuild t-shirt and hoodie from which 100% of profits will go directly to communities most affected through vetted partnerships. Jetty prints all its own apparel, so fast turnarounds lead to relief funds being made available quickly.
“It wasn’t long ago that this was us, evacuating our barrier island for a storm like we’d never seen before,” said Jetty Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder, Cory Higgins. “We’re usually coming to aid in a zone where we’ve surfed and have those relationships. We’ve been so embraced by the outdoor world; we sell in shops in Florida, Western North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia. These are all part of our family too.”
Jetty was founded in 2003, and in its infancy, the brand rallied to create a t-shirt with profits that helped Louisiana residents in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Fundraising became a focus of the brand early on and remains at its core.
In 2012, Superstorm Sandy created a sea of change, not only for the Mid-Atlantic shores where it made landfall but for Jetty. While the founders and many employees were displaced, they orchestrated a historic relief effort that began with a wildly popular t-shirt. That simple design and local initiative ultimately morphed into a full community movement that led to the formation of the Jetty Rock Foundation.
Jetty’s non-profit arm serves to protect our oceans and waterways and support those who build their lives around them. In addition to its many clean water initiatives, the Jetty Rock Foundation continues to honor its storm relief roots by sending aid to Texas, the Carolinas, and the Caribbean after successive landfalling hurricanes in recent years.
“Our retailer partners are the heart and soul of these communities. They have their finger on the pulse and understand what the urgent needs are on the ground,” said Jetty Creative Director and Partner, John Clifford. “Whether it be tools and protective gear, or funding for crucial supplies—the outdoor and surf industry can be counted on to jump into action when disaster strikes. Jetty and the Jetty Rock Foundation know first-hand how devastating these storms can be, and we wanted to act quickly to promote relief through these key leaders in the affected areas.”
The Jetty Unite+Rebuild Hurricane Relief t-shirt and hoodie are now available for pre-order at www.jettylife.com. In the coming weeks, both garments will also be available at select retailers nationwide.
