The highly anticipated Etape Loch Ness, now in its 11th year, will officially open priority entry on 29th October at 10am, offering cycling enthusiasts an exclusive 48-hour window to secure their spot. With a cap of 6,000 riders and a history of selling out within just 48 hours, those interested are encouraged to register now for priority access.
Taking place amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the world-famous Loch Ness, this bucket-list event promises a unique and challenging ride. Participants will experience the thrill of cycling on closed roads, taking in stunning vistas and the unparalleled beauty of the Scottish Highlands. The event has raised over £2.18 million for Macmillan Cancer Support over the past decade, making it their most successful cycling event. Macmillan has guaranteed places for cyclists who commit to raising funds for this essential cause, giving participants the chance to ride with purpose.

Cyclists will tackle a spectacular 66-mile route around the iconic Loch Ness, benefitting from complete road closures. The course includes a challenging elevation of 900 metres and stunning views – as riders leave Fort Augustus, there is an intense King of the Mountain section, a 4.8 mile climb gaining 380m in height and at times with a gradient reaching 12%.
While the route is testing, it remains non-competitive, welcoming all levels of cyclists to enjoy the beauty and thrill of the ride.

Those who register in advance will get access to the 48-hour priority window starting on 29th October before entry is available to the general public. The Etape Loch Ness is a cycle sportive, which is a short to long distance, organised, non-competitive mass-participation cycling event. The Etape Loch Ness takes place around iconic Loch Ness offering the chance to cycle 66 miles (106 km) on traffic free roads. The 360° closed-road route around the loch starts and finishes in the Highland capital of Inverness, offering 900m of ascent. There is a timed King of the Mountain stage, with a 4.8-mile (9 km) climb gaining 380m in height with a gradient reaching 12% at times.
All cyclists can opt to raise money for the official charity, Macmillan Cancer Support. £2.18 million has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support by Etape Loch Ness riders through its partnership with the event since 2014.
