Andreas Steindl, Mont Blanc and Matterhorn record holder, joins DYNAFIT
August 8, 2019
The DYNAFIT athlete team has a new member: The Swiss alpinist and ski mountaineer Andreas Steindl will now be a member of the DYNAFIT family. This speed mountaineer reached the summit of this highly challenging mountain in record time. In the process, the 30-year-old ticked off not only the trail and vert, but also conquered even this difficult Alpine terrain with playful ease. In July this year, the Zermatt resident created a sensation on Mont Blanc. Together with the Italian Francois Cazzanelli, Steindl succeeded in climbing the highest mountain in the Alps up the Peutérey Intégral Ridge and returning back to the start in the valley in record time. To master the 4,300 meters of vert along 45 kilometers along the longest Alpine ridge the two mountain guides took just 15 hours, 55 minutes. One of the biggest achievements of the Swiss guide is the record on the Matterhorn: On Aug. 27, 2018, in less than four hours (3:59:57), the extreme mountaineer ran the 2,861 meters of vert and 22.8k from Kirchplatz in Zermatt up the Matterhorn and back. DYNAFIT backs this exceptional talent with his projects: Our equipment offers the highest performance with lightness and is thus perfectly suited for the demands of this athlete’s projects.
Just like mountain sports brand DYNAFIT, Andreas Steindl is at home in the heart of the mountains: The 30-year-old was born at the foot of the Matterhorn. At 14, he stood at the summit of his first 4,000er with his mountain guide father. His passion for the Alps was sparked, and he began to set for himself new and more extreme goals. The certified mountain and ski guide was a member of the Swiss National Team in ski mountaineering until last winter. In the future, the alpinist will focus on his speed projects as well as his job as a mountain guide.
“I want to be out and about in the mountains safely and quickly. That only works however with the best, lightest and highest-performance gear on which I can fully place my trust. Thanks to DYNAFIT, I now have the best partner I could ever imagine. So let’s speedup!” says Andreas “Andy” Steindl about his decision to partner with DYNAFIT.
Already back in 2015, Andreas Steindl proved his talent for setting records: Together with the late Ueli Steck, he completed the so-called “Spaghetti Tour” (17 peaks over 4,000 meters) in just 14 hours, 30 minutes. In summer 2018, he won the Matterhorn Sky Run – his hometown mountain which he had already summited some 100 times. Speaking of sky running: One of Andreas Steindl’s favorite products and a personal gear tip is the DYNAFIT Sky Pro that will hit the market for summer 2020. Steindl set his newest record on Mont Blanc wearing this new shoe for a large portion of the route. At 280 grams, the SKY PRO is the lightest shoe of its class, yet offers outstanding precision at the same time and a superior ground feel. Thanks to a waterproof gaiter, it offers protection on alpine terrain with rocks and snow and thus is an ideal companion for everyone who wants to conquer challenging mountains dynamically and with minimal weight. The shoe is a part of our “Athletic Mountaineering” collection that is our emphasis for summer 2020. It was developed by DYNAFIT specifically for mountain athletes who take on alpine terrain fast. As experts for mountain endurance sport, DYNAFIT has combined performance, protection and lightness to enable safe progress even on demanding terrain. Andreas Steindl personifies and embodies a top athlete in this discipline.
