Florian Schulz to Speak at The Conservation Alliance Breakfast

Photographer Will Present “The Wild Edge: Freedom to Roam the Pacific Coast”

Bend, Ore., May 19, 2016 – Photographer Florian Schulz will be the featured speaker at The Conservation Alliance Breakfast at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Summer Market. Schulz’s multi-media presentation weaves stories and images from his new book The Wild Edge, which reveals the great Pacific seam of North America, from the Baja peninsula to the icy realm of polar bears in the Beaufort Sea of Alaska. Schulz will provide a stunning look at the wild places of the Pacific Coast. The breakfast is Thursday, August 4, from 7:00 – 8:50 a.m. at the downtown Marriott in Salt Lake City.

Born in Germany, Schulz is a professional nature and wildlife photographer with a strong conservation vision. In constant search for breathtaking images, Florian hopes to inspire individuals to take action in the protection of endangered ecosystems and wilderness areas.

“Florian is a brilliant photographer, engaging speaker, and dedicated conservationist,” said John Sterling, Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance. “He spoke at our breakfast five years ago, and had much of the audience in tears. We’re lucky to have him back this year.”

Schulz’s talk will be timely given that a campaign is building to permanently protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from oil drilling. Schulz’s presentation will clearly demonstrate what is at stake in this remarkable landscape.

In addition to Schulz’s talk, The Conservation Alliance Breakfast will feature a review of the grants the organization made during its Winter 2016 funding cycle, and successes that grantees achieved so far in 2016.
