Momentum Indoor Climbing and HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation to Host Summit Party and Silent Auction at Petzl Technical Institute
November 9, 2016
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (November 9, 2015) — HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation will host the 2016 HERA Climb4Life Event’s dinner, silent auction and Summit party at the Petzl Technical Institute 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016.
“We are proud to be a longtime supporter of the HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation and its mission to eliminate ovarian cancer,” said Dave Hugar, marketing director for Petzl.
The Summit party will feature dinner by the Salt Lake favorite Taqueria27, with beer donated by Epic Brewing. The evening will include presentations by ovarian cancer survivors and a silent auction, featuring gear from Petzl, Mammut, La Sportiva, Marmot and RAB, among others. All proceeds will go to ovarian cancer research and awareness of the disease’s symptoms.
Earlier that day, Momentum Indoor Climbing in Sandy will feature a competition climbing wall, kids area, yoga, pro clinics, raffle prizes, goody bags, memorial wall, and prizes for pledge raisers if you want to raise more for the cause. Both events are open to the public and tickets can be purchased for one or both events by going to the Climb4Life Fundraising page on Crowdrise.
“The HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation was created by the late climber Sean Patrick who battled ovarian cancer. The foundation has done a remarkable job of raising money and awareness of this disease that impacts the lives of women and family members who love them,” said Jeff Pedersen, CEO of Momentum Indoor Climbing. “Momentum is proud to support HERA’s tireless efforts.”
All HERA Climb4Life event proceeds benefit the HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate ovarian cancer by promoting Health, Empowerment, Research and Awareness. Donations help to fund scientific research grants aimed at eliminating ovarian cancer. Those who are unable to attend on November 12 can still fundraise for HERA through the Climb4Life Salt Lake City fundraising page.
One in 75 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in her lifetime according to The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program of the National Cancer Institute. With early detection, more than 92 percent will survive. Without early detection the survival rate could be as low as 24 percent. The American Cancer Society reports that only 15 percent of all ovarian cancer is caught early. Ovarian cancer accounts for more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system. The mission of the HERA Foundation is to stop the loss of mothers, daughters, sisters, grandmothers, aunts, wives, partners and girlfriends from ovarian cancer.
