Crescent Moon’s New Eva Snowshoe Takes Home Four Winter Outdoor Retailer Gear of the Show Awards
January 16, 2017
Looking like the love child of an Adidas running shoe and a Blizzak snow tire, Crescent Moon’s new Eva all-foam snowshoe was crowned one of the most noteworthy industry innovations at the 2017 Winter Outdoor Retailer Show.
Boulder, CO (January 16, 2017) Crescent Moon Snowshoes is thrilled to have received Gear of the Show recognition from Outside Magazine, Gear Junkie, Digital Trends and The Manual for their new Eva all-foam snowshoe at the 2017 Winter Outdoor Retailer Show. Moreover, they received the No. 1 Ranking for Men’s Journal’s “Most Important New Products from Outdoor Retailer 2017” and the Creativity Award from Backpackgeartest.org.
“This just might be the start of a new era in snowshoeing,” said Clint Carter of Men’s Journal.
Remarkably light, with a rocker shape and no rotational hinge, the patent-pending design uses dual-density EVA soles (the lightest among all kinds of outsoles), while featuring tire-tread-like lugs for amazing traction.
“The idea behind the design was to create a snowshoe that encourages people to get outside and enjoy the snow from wherever they are,” says Jake Thamm, Crescent Moon Snowshoe’s President. “We believe the solid traction, unique look of the shoe, simple binding and lightweight feel will have a broader customer reach than traditional snowshoes and introduce a new segment of the market to the Winter activity.”
Lightweight, but sturdy and reliable, at 23” x 8”, this giant-sized trail shoe is as light as the word “foam” infers, and with a simple hook and loop system of straps not only goes on easily, but is secure and comfortable. The top of the all-foam snowshoe is cushioned and cradled, providing a very comfortable sensation on even the hardest, roughest surfaces, while the bottom traction of the snowshoe is a highly durable and tough EVA composite that grips like a snow tire — with material similar to that found on football cleats. This is the most innovative thing in snowshoes since the aluminum frame.
“This is a small shoe, about the size and length of our running shoe, and as such has the same caveat as all small snowshoes — it’s not intended for off trail use. The Eva is a utilitarian product, you might see them stacked by the door like a raincoat or an umbrella,” says Thamm.
The MSRP ($149 USD) of the new snowshoes is primed to attract a wider demographic than traditional snowshoes. With availability through Crescent Moon’s network of specialty outdoor retailers and at crescentmoonsnowshoes.com, the company is launching the new snowshoes at the annual Winter trade shows, with retail availability in Fall of 2017.
