Yakima Introduces Gear Solutions Across Hot Outdoor Recreation Markets for Fall 2017/Spring 2018

From kayak fishing to roof top tent camping, Yakima continues to meet the needs of growing categories with innovative products

Lake Oswego, OR – Yakima Racks, the leader in vehicle racks and cargo management solutions, is further meeting the needs of the growing adventure sports markets, including kayak fishing, overlanding and roof top camping, with the introduction of its Fall 2017/Spring 2018 lines. The brand will be launching them this week at Summer Outdoor Retailer (booth 36113).

The new products include the EasyRider High trailer, a sleek two-level workhorse that can handle heavier boats, such as fishing kayaks; the LongArm, Yakima’s all-new truck bed extender; and the OffGrid, a versatile new cargo basket. They are also doubling down on their commitment to the roof top tent market with the introduction of numerous accessories for their popular SkyRise tent. For the bike category, the brand is introducing the new BackSwing, which converts any hitch rack into a swing-away rack, and the SingleSpeed single-bike hitch rack.

SkyRise Accessories
Yakima is upping its camping game in Spring 2018 with the launch of its first accessory line for the popular SkyRise roof top tent, which launched in 2017. The new line-up includes the SkyRise Annex, which transforms the area underneath the tent into a small room for a changing, relaxing out of the elements, or for gear storage. The three walls are made of durable waterproof Ripstop nylon fabric, and the door and 2 mesh windows can be zippered down for privacy [MSRP: Small: $199; Medium: $249].

Other accessories include the SideKick, a slick hanging storage bag durable, waterproof material that keeps dirty shoes outside the tent [MSRP $29]; the SkyLoft storage sling [MSRP: $30]; 300 thread count cotton BedSheets, tailored to fit each size of SkyRise mattress [MSRP: Small: $99; Medium: $119]; and the SunBelt Power Kit, a flexible LED light strip that slides into the SkyRise SideTrack for quick and easy attachment to the outside of the tent or SlimShady awning, and versatile mounting straps that let you attach the SunBelt inside the tent [MSRP $50].

EasyRider High

Haul it all with the new EasyRider High utility trailer – perfect for hauling fishing kayaks, paddleboards, bikes, and cargo. Carry up to 500 pounds of gear with two levels of storage and our widest heavy-duty bars. Shock absorbers provide a plush ride for your gear. The smart handle lets you use it as a handcart, and the aluminum construction is strong and light. The trailer is highway-friendly for long trips, and it’s also great for shorter adventures. Storage is easy – just fold in the tongue and roll it out of the way. Accessories, including the SpareTire, TentKit and LongTongue, are also available.

SingleSpeed
A new single-bike hitch rack for fast and light solo travel, the SingleSpeed carries any kind of bike and is super-easy to install and remove, making it great for the spur-of-the-moment rides. The StrongArm design secures bike at wheels, protecting paint jobs and carbon frames. It’s compatible with fat, mountain, road, BMX and kids’ bikes.

It’s the first single bike tray that comes with a full locking package: SKS Locks are included, which lock both the rack to the vehicle and bikes to the rack.

BackSwing

Haul all your travel and outdoor essentials that don’t stow easily, like coolers and gear bags. Available in two sizes, and includes a fairing. New accessories include the OffGrid Shovel/Axe Bracket, Spare Tire Carrier, and Stretch Net.

Those who need a little more space can add on the new OffGrid Extension, which adds up to 40 percent more capacity to the OffGrid. Available in two sizes (medium – additional 18”; large – additional 22”), the installation of the extension is smooth and easy.
