Award-Winning MSR® Hubba™ NX Tent Series Receives 2019 Updates
July 12, 2018
Updated MSR Hubba NX Tent Series feature unrivaled weather protection and pole resiliency
SEATTLE, Wash.— When Seattle-based Mountain Safety Research® (MSR®) introduced the MSR Hubba Tent series in 2002, the innovative, lightweight, one-pole-to-pitch design revolutionized the lightweight backpacking tent category and quickly became the cornerstone of the company’s tent line. After receiving nearly two dozen awards for the tent series over the past 17 years, MSR brings new technology updates to its best-selling tent series in 2019.
New for 2019, the MSR Hubba NX Tent series receives Easton® Syclone™ Poles. Built of lightweight, aerospace-grade materials, Syclone poles are the most resilient backpacking tent poles ever made – and the future of tent pole technology. The Hubba NX Series also receives MSR’s exclusive Xtreme Shield™ System, a watertight system that ensures tents offer weatherproof protection far longer than ever before.
“Xtreme Shield is the ultimate coating to protect your tent’s waterproofness through heat, rain, and storage,” says Terry Beaux, shelter category manager at MSR. “Combined with virtually indestructible Easton Syclone Poles, you can count on your Hubba tent to deliver the protection you need, when you need it, for many seasons to come.”
New Technologies Make MSR’s Best-Selling Tent Even Better
MSR worked with Easton Manufacturing for over five years on the development of the Easton Syclone Poles, which are made strong and flexible to resist breaking. Only found on MSR tents, these next-generation poles are made of advanced composite materials, which make them virtually indestructible.
Also new to the Hubba NX Tent series in 2019, MSR’s Xtreme Shield System solves two fundamental problems that degrade a tent’s waterproof protection: coating failure, which causes fabric stickiness, and seam-tape failure. To combat these issues, Xtreme Shield combines a revolutionary, durable waterproof coating that lasts up to 3x longer than standard coatings and durable, precision, watertight seams. Together, they create a remarkably watertight system that ensures weatherproof protection far longer than ever before.
Featuring lightweight fabrics and tent poles, the Hubba NX series helps keep packs light, letting its users tackle a broad range of outdoor pursuits. The MSR Hubba NX series’ unique and signature pole configuration maximizes head and elbow room for ultimate livability, while mesh in the canopies and an adjustable, cross-ventilating rainfly delivers optimal airflow and unrestricted views. The series boasts oversized StayDry™ doors, large side entry vestibules. A separately sold Gear Shed can be added for additional storage space.
All models feature a Fast & Light freestanding setup option with a rainfly, and a Fast & Light™ body, sold separately. The Hubba NX series comes in a 1-person, 2-person, 3-person and 4-person model. MSRP: $379.95 – $699.95
