September 18, 2024

Backup by BioLite, an always-on 60-hour backup battery system, delivers reliable energy and peace of mind without the need for contractors.

Brooklyn, NY (September 18, 2024)/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – BioLite, a social enterprise leader in resilient off-grid energy solutions, today announced a category-defining moment for home energy appliances with Backup by BioLite, a self-installed backup energy system that delivers up to 60 hours of reliable, always-on, reserve power for your home. Backup by BioLite is a cost-effective, easy-to-install, safe, and slim energy appliance that provides peace of mind and energy security for an increasingly unreliable grid.

With two out of every three homeowners in the United States having experienced a power outage in the past year[1], Backup by BioLite ushers in a new era of home energy appliances that are easy to use, always on, safe, and designed to disappear into the recesses of the home. Compared to other solutions that require expensive professional installation, Backup by BioLite can be self-installed in thirty minutes as a safe set-it-and-forget-it solution to keep critical devices, such as a refrigerator, running for up to 60 hours.

“Traditional home backup power typically costs upwards of $15,000 and can take months of coordination with contractors and electricians to install,” shares CEO and Co-Founder, Jonathan Cedar. He continues, “Backup by BioLite offers home-owners and renters alike a more affordable alternative that they can install themselves in under an hour and build resiliency back into their home.”

Backup by BioLite is designed to be modular and expandable to meet a range of household needs. The premier offering, Backup Complete, includes two battery units (Backup Core and Extend panels) that deliver up to 60 hours of automatic backup energy (3 kWh) and can qualify for a 30% IRA Tax Credit. The single panel entry-level Backup Core (1.5 kWh) can be installed independently or combined with up to five additional Extend units (1.5 kWh each) for greater energy and flexibility. The system can be remotely managed by a WiFi / Bluetooth mobile app and recharged using standard home AC outlets or solar power (DC).

Backup by BioLite will be available for pre-sale starting September 18, 2024, on Kickstarter with limited-time discounts up to 35% off.
