Therm-a-Rest Helps Raise $3,500 for BCM Through Recent ‘Making Camp for Everyone’ Campaign

SEATTLE, Wash. (November 10, 2020) – Cascade Designs, the company behind award-winning brands Therm-a-Rest, Mountain Safety Research (MSR), Platypus, SealLine, and PackTowl, announces today a continued partnership with Big City Mountaineers (BCM), an organization committed to breaking down barriers to outdoor access for youth by providing free, fully-outfitted, and professionally-led backcountry trips. After working together on the Making Camp For Everyone Campaign, which exceeded Therm-a-Rest’s donation goal by 75-percent and raising $3,500, Therm-a-Rest is excited to extend the partnership with BCM into 2021 with the continued goal of introducing the next generation to the magic of sleeping under the stars.

“With this partnership and the support of our customers, together we were able increase access to transformative outdoor experiences for young people from disinvested communities across America, said Erik Flink, VP of Marketing & eCommerce at Cascade Designs. “We saw so much success with Making Camp for Everyone that it’s really evolved into a long-term partnership for the Therm-a-Rest brand, rather than just a one-time campaign.”

Through annual monetary support, gear donations and signal-boosting for BCM, Therm-a-Rest seeks to make camp for everyone by investing in outdoor access for students from disinvested communities all year long. The goal is to foster inclusive and accessible outdoor spaces where everyone—of all ages and backgrounds—feels welcome, respected and shares in the experience of sleeping under the stars.

“The work of making the outdoors an equitable, accessible, inviting space for all is only possible through strong partnerships and widespread support,” said Megan Aranow, Director of Strategic Partnerships at Big City Mountaineers. “Because of the ongoing support from partners like Therm-a-Rest we’re able to break down barriers and create opportunities for the next generation of hikers and campers. The ‘Making Camp for Everyone’ campaign is such a great example of two organizations coming together to amplify that critical message.”

With two-thirds of the world’s population living in urban settings, it is critically important that people find ways to get outdoors, especially youth. Check out this recent blog post to learn more about why outdoor programs for young people matter.
