Crescent Moon Launches New Luna Snowshoe, Furthering their Non-Traditional Approach to the Category
February 15, 2019
Luna model designed with a smaller footprint to attract new kinds of customers
Boulder, CO – With a smaller footprint and weighing in at just three pounds, Crescent Moon Snowshoes’ new Luna snowshoe was built with women, runners and children in mind. Available in Fall of 2019, the new Luna continues to blur the line between traditional snowshoes and running shoes.
Along with the precedent setting Eva snowshoe, which has been widely recognized and awarded, the Luna augments the company’s winter trail offering with an even more lightweight and flexible design. Equipped with a set of six rubber “tri-star points” on the traction plate and optional ICESPIKE™ traction, grip on hard pack and icy trails is excellent. The Luna also uses a molded binding with tension locks on webbing straps for improved entry/exit while also adding more lateral stability for comfort and control.
“We’re fully committed to the foam snowshoe idea because of the unique benefits associated with the material and the debut of the Luna is the next step in the line up. While keeping essential features of the Eva as the leading element, we wanted to expand the customer base by making a smaller, lighter and faster version of the foam shoe,” says Jake Thamm, Crescent Moon’s co-founder and president. “Crescent Moon is the only company in the world making a foam snowshoe. With Luna’s reduced size, it accentuates the characteristics that the slightly larger Eva is known for— quiet, intuitive binding, innovative and compared to traditional snowshoes, a lot more fun. Luna is designed to appeal to women, kids and because of its size and unique shape and feel, we expect runners will be immediately attracted to it as well.”
