Shiffrin Scores World Cup Victory No. 101 in Slalom, as Brignone, Odermatt End Season as Overall World Cup Champions

Sun Valley, ID, USA /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Mikaela Shiffrin dazzled the crowd with World Cup victory No. 101 as the 2025 Stifel Sun Valley Finals officially came to a close today with the world’s best alpine skiers competing in the final Slalom events of the year.

With thousands of fans cheering her on, Shiffrin threw down two impressive runs and won the final slalom event of the season by 1.13 seconds over German Lena Duerr. Andreja Slokar (CRO) took home a close third for the day, just one one-hundredth of a second slower than Duerr.

“Winning here, on home snow, with this kind of skiing—it’s really special. Today was the best skiing I could possibly do.” Mikaela Shiffrin shares with a smile, “To have that be win number 101, here in the U.S., at Finals… it just means a lot. It’s a reminder of why we train so hard, and it gives me a lot of energy heading into what’s next.”

Croatian Zinka Ljutic took home the Overall Slalom Crystal Globe for women, while Katharina Leinsberger (AUT) was second and Camille Rast (SUI) third in the final season standings. Shiffrin followed in fourth place, an impressive feat after missing four slalom races earlier in the year due to injury.

With the Slalom Crystal Globe on the line, the men’s race in Sun Valley had fans on the edge of their seats as the season came down to a dramatic final showdown. Timon Haugan (NOR) clinched first place from Clement Noel (FRA) by just 0.03 seconds. Fabio Gstrein (AUT) came in third for the day.

Henrik Kristofferson (NOR) delivered an impressive fourth-place finish in Sun Valley and nabbed his fourth Slalom Crystal Globe. Loic Meillard (SUI) and Timon Haugan (NOR) follow in second and third place, respectively, in the season standings.

To close out the World Cup season, Frederica Brignone (ITA) and Marco Odermatt (SUI) were named the Overall World Cup Champions. Brignone proved to be absolutely dominant this season with 10 World Cup victories and 15 podium results in Downhill, Super G, and Giant Slalom. Odermatt continues to shine as one of the best skiers of his generation, claiming the Overall Crystal Globe for the fifth time at just 27 years old, following eight World Cup wins and 17 podium results for the 2024/25 season.

Lara Gut-Behrami (SUI) finished second in the overall globe standings, followed by Sofia Goggia (ITA). On the men’s side, Henrik Kristofferson (NOR) was second, and Loic Meillard (SUI) was third.

Locals and visitors filled the Warm Springs base with energy all week long as fans and spectators were treated to world-class racing across disciplines. The athletes rose to the demands of the Challenger course that tested everything they had, and the crowd at Warm Springs base matched their energy every step of the way.

“We are incredibly proud of the success of this event and the overwhelming support from athletes, fans, and partners who made it possible. From Odermatt and Brignone securing the Overall Crystal Globes with dominant performances, to Vonn’s first podium position since 2018, each race brought intense competition, dramatic finishes, and incredible displays of athleticism that kept us entertained all week long” shares Stacey Ehleringer, Local Organizing Chair of Stifel Sun Valley Finals.
