March 1, 2022

Alproof and Alproof Lite lead collection of technical avalanche airbag backpacks; Pico, Kikki, and Junior lead collection of recycled kids’ packs

LONGMONT, Colo. /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – deuter, the global leader in backpacks and outdoor equipment, announces its functional, stylish, and sustainably produced packs for Fall 2022. Highlights for the season include the compact, reliable Alproof and Alproof Lite along with the 100-percent recycled and bluesign® approved Pico, Kikki, and Junior. The new collection will be available at deuter.com and select retailers in Fall 2022.

“The new Alproof Series is a nod to deuter’s efforts to expand our snowsports portfolio and respond to an exponentially growing category of backcountry skiers and splitboarders. We’re extremely excited to partner with a highly reputable avalanche airbag manufacturer like Alpride and to combine deuter’s award-winning craftsmanship to bring a new generation of avalanche backpacks to the market,” says deuter USA managing director, Jonathan Degenhardt.

The Alproof Series ($1,200-$1,300) is designed for backcountry skiers and splitboarders, providing reliable protection and better balance. Featuring four styles, the Alproof Series is highlighted by the latest airbag technology, the Alpride E2 avalanche system. At 2.5 lbs, the system features supercapacitors, making it one of the lightest electronic airbags on the market. It is also 40-percent smaller than its predecessor, featuring 1-liter of useful volume in the pack. With intuitive and easy-to-learn operation, users can easily assess the status of the battery via the LED display and adjust the trigger handle to custom height. The lightweight deuter Alpine back system fits snugly to the back when riding in any terrain, keeping the load close to your center of gravity for optimal carry comfort. Additionally, the padded hip belt and leg safety strap provide extra comfort and security while riding in the backcountry.

The Alproof ($1,300) is available in 32-liter and 30-liters short, and the Alproof Lite ($1,200) is available in 22-liters and 20-liters short. The collection of packs has all the necessary attachment options for skis, snowboards, ice axes, and ropes as well as an innovative helmet net and wet gear carry, an insulated hydration tube sleeve on the shoulder strap, a hydration system within the pack, and enough space for climbing skins. Avalanche rescue equipment can be stowed in a separate, easily accessible front safety compartment.

Also headlining the Fall 2022 collection for deuter is the new, climate-neutral Kids’ Pack collection. Featuring three redesigned styles, the packs are now bluesign® approved and made with 100-percent recycled, PFC-Free fabric. At 5-liters, the Pico ($30) is introduced for little explorers ages two and older. With a comfortable, soft padded back panel and zip-around opening, this backpack is ideal for kids to bundle up belongings for school each day and the friendly graphics make it hard for your little one to misplace.  At 8-liters, the Kikki ($50) is designed to be the perfect companion for animal-loving kids ages three and older. The entire collection makes a statement with its funny ears and animal characters, making it perfect for a trip to the swimming pool, commute to pre-school or a hike at the local trails. Lastly, at a larger capacity of 18-liters, the Junior ($60) is designed for children ages seven and older who want to spend their time exploring and need a durable backpack that’ll keep up. With deuter’s Airstripe back system for ventilation, stretch side and front pockets, and adjustable sternum straps, this backpack is made for a youngsters’ first long hike or overnight.

“The bluesign® standard is one of the highest environmental and resource-efficient standards. For Fall 2022, deuter refreshes its Kids’ Pack offerings with the launch of an entirely bluesign® approved collection and we’re proud to make a continued, clear statement on sustainability as we encourage more people to think about how they participate in the outdoors,” says deuter USA Managing Director Jonathan Degenhardt.

The new deuter collection will be available in September 2022 at www.deuter.com and at select retail partners. For more information, please contact Account Manager Maria Brickman: maria.brickman@rygr.us.
