Forsake Commits to Offsetting Their Carbon Footprint and Gives Back This Earth Day

Boston, MA – April 20, 2018 – Forsake, creators of footwear that blends comfort, performance and style through functional design and practical technology, is pleased to announce the launch of its “For Goodness Sake” program as a Carbonfund.org partner.

Carbonfund.org is leading the fight against global warming, making it easy and affordable for any individual, business or organization to reduce & offset their climate impact and hasten the transition to a clean energy future.

To commemorate the partnership, Forsake will donate $20.00 for every pair of Forsake shoes sold on their website (forsake.com) on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, 2018 between the hours of 12:00am and 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time to Carbonfund.org’s Envira Amazonia Project in Acre, Brazil which protects 500,000 acres of tropical rainforest.

The “For Goodness Sake” program allows Forsake to offset energy used to ship new shoe samples, operate their Boston, MA office, and travel to meet with their retail partners.  All shipments to Forsake customers are sent using UPS carbon neutral.

“Forsake encourages people to get outdoors and experience the world around us and we want to preserve our planet’s health,” said Jack Knoll, marketing director for Forsake, “we can all take steps to reduce our impact on the environment, but some business operations and their associated emissions are unavoidable. ‘For Goodness Sake’ is our effort to mitigate the impacts that these essential business activities have on the environment.”

Forsake began their partnership with Carbonfund.org in 2017 and in just one year they offset 110 metric tonnes of CO2e through rural community enhancement projects and avoided deforestation which is the equivalence of mitigating GHG emissions from 269,908 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle, carbon sequestered by 130 acres of forest each year, and mitigating emissions from 120,000 pounds of coal burned.
