Grassroots Outdoor Alliance releases Trends Report for Fall 2021, powered by PivotPoint data, to member retailers, vendor partners and key associates

Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, the national organization working together for the health and growth of specialty outdoor retail, this week announced the release of their Trends Report for Fall 2021, powered by PivotPoint national data, exclusively to member retailers, vendor partners and key associates.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (February 16, 2022) /OUTDOOR ALLIANCE/ – Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, the national organization working together for the health and growth of specialty outdoor retail, this week announced the release of their Trends Report for Fall 2021, powered by PivotPoint national data, exclusively to member retailers, vendor partners and key associates.
Capturing the fall 2021 selling season (Aug. 2021 – Jan. 2022), the Grassroots seasonal trends report combines insights and analysis from Grassroots membership with sales data collected through PivotPoint: a comparative business performance and inventory insight platform that uses real-time anonymized data-sharing from Grassroots members.
“Grassroots retailers have had a remarkable couple of years, including 29% sales growth across the group in 2021. But to continue this positive momentum into 2022 and beyond, it’s time to dig into the details that will inform the future strategies built by our retailers and vendor partners,” said Rich Hill, president of Grassroots Outdoor Alliance.
The PivotPoint data tool began onboarding Grassroots retailers in spring 2020, and went from pilot phase to general availability for Grassroots members in June, 2021. After last November’s launch of IndieOutdoor – a 501(c)(6) non-profit trade community – PivotPoint began incorporating sales data from IndieOutdoor’s broader community of specialty retailers outside of Grassroots membership.
“It’s taken close to three years and a significant shared investment to get us to this point, and we’re planning on supporting another 18 months of work. Fortunately, we started seeing an ROI the moment we began asking questions how, where, why, and by whom our data was being used,” added Hill.
Key data included in Grassroots’ Trends Report for Fall 2021 includes summaries of sales volume by retailer; sales volume by location; top brand rankings based on total sales volume; top brand rankings based on growth; top categories by market share; and brand performance in primary categories including clothing, footwear, outdoor gear, and snowsports.
Additional analysis includes a holiday season review (2020 vs 2021) including comparisons of store traffic and sales; and commentary on pricing considerations including inflation, price increases, shipping surcharges and margin challenges.
