GU Energy to Support the Running Industry Diversity Coalition as its Next Spotlight Partner
November 18, 2024
/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – GU Energy Labs is proud to announce the Running Industry Diversity Coalition (RIDC) as its GU Gives spotlight partner for 2025-2026. RIDC, which celebrates its fifth year of advocacy in 2025, is an educational nonprofit working to unite the running industry to improve inclusion, visibility, and access for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, a mission closely aligned with GU’s own values. Through its GU Gives program and 1% for the Planet membership, the company works alongside organizations making a difference for underserved and historically excluded communities.
“People feel more connected when they see themselves represented. Partnering with the RIDC and learning from them is all about helping build a running community where everyone feels truly valued and welcomed,” said Celia Camargo, Director of Community and Purpose at GU. “We’re excited to join the RIDC for a better tomorrow, building a more inclusive space for everyone who loves to run and inspiring others to take those first steps.”
The elevated partnership with the RIDC is a continuation of GU Gives’ commitment to support non-profit organizations working to create opportunity and access in the outdoor industry. In 2023-2024, GU Gives spotlighted Rising Hearts and its Running on Native Lands initiative. Proceeds from the sale of Raspberry Lemonade Energy Gel have supported the organization’s work of fostering inclusive and accessible outdoor experiences, while acknowledging that the land we’re privileged to enjoy is stolen.
As spotlight partner, the RIDC will receive proceeds from the sale of a signature product to be released in 2025. The upcoming partnership will be showcased at The Running Event (TRE) in Austin this year, where GU will join a session titled “The Future of Run Specialty from the RIDC Lens: Relevance and Consumer Loyalty.” GU will share insights from its spotlight partnership with Rising Hearts alongside other brands that have recently demonstrated impactful campaigns or partnerships, reflecting RIDC’s mission and research findings. This session will take place on Tuesday, November 19th.
At TRE, GU will also prominently feature the RIDC at its tradeshow booth (#925) where retailers can learn more about the RIDC’s mission and GU’s upcoming product launch. Additionally, GU is excited to support THE COOKOUT on Wednesday, November 20th. This vibrant gathering celebrates communities of color and engaged allies of the RIDC mission with delicious food, lively music, and networking opportunities, all while raising funds for the RIDC’s important work.
“Partnering with GU Energy Labs amplifies our mission to create a running industry where everyone feels valued and seen. GU’s commitment to genuine inclusivity sets a powerful example, and we’re thrilled to continue our work together to create meaningful change for all runners,” said Kiera Smalls, Executive Director of the RIDC. “GU Energy Labs has shown what true allyship looks like—moving beyond words to create impact that resonates across communities.”
