HERA Climb4Life Event Raises $20,000 for Ovarian Cancer Research

November 16, 2015

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (November 16, 2015) — Petzl is proud to announce the 2015 HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation’s Climb4Life series raised more than $20,000 for ovarian cancer research. The Petzl Technical Institute hosted a special screening of Reel Rock 10 for HERA family, friends and supporters at its 15,000-square-foot technical training facility in Utah’s Salt Lake Valley to benefit cancer research.

Petzl is a strong supporter of Climb4Life, an organization dedicated to engaging communities and climbers to a global cause through its connection of conquering mountains outside and internally.

“The skills learned in climbing—problem solving, risk taking and confidence in their decision making—enable people to climb all the mountains in their lives,” said the late Sean Patrick, founder of HERA.

Petzl’s North American headquarters is based in Salt Lake City, UT. The family-owned company traces its roots to underground exploration. In 1956, founder Fernand Petzl set a world depth record of -3,681 feet (1,122 meters) in the Gouffre Berger, an extensive cave system near his home in France.

The Petzl Technical Institute is a continuation of Petzl’s original mission: to enable and educate people on how to safely access some of the most inaccessible places above and below ground. The facility features a 55-foot tall climbing wall with multi-pitch capability, more than 5,000 square feet of exposed structure climbing for tower rescue, and three classrooms capable of accommodating up to 135 people, among other features.

Petzl operates a similar training facility at its worldwide headquarters in France.
