SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (January 16, 2018) – Hot Chillys®, creators of the world’s most well known base layers for over 30 years, is supporting the Apa Sherpa Foundation with a happy hour fundraiser on Thursday, January 25 at this year’s Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show in Denver. The first 125 people to donate $10 to support the Hot Lunch Program for students in the village of Ghat in the Khumbu region of Nepal will receive a cold Corona beer and a Hot Chillys Cold Defense Face Mask or Bandana.
“Hot Chillys began sponsoring Apa Sherpa in 2008 and when he started the Apa Sherpa Foundation the following year, we wanted to get involved,” said Amy Callihan Brand Marketing Strategist. “We believe in education’s ability to exact positive change around the world and proper nutrition is essential to the learning process. We look forward to sharing our passion for helping these children with the Outdoor Retailer community while raising money for this worthwhile cause.”
Nepalese mountaineer Apa Sherpa created the Apa Sherpa Foundation in 2009 with help from philanthropist and outdoor industry veteran Jerry Mika. Apa holds the world record for reaching the summit of Mount Everest an astonishing 21 times and he started the Apa Sherpa Foundation to improve education and economic development in Nepal. As part of the foundation’s mission, the Hot Lunch Program helps students who cannot afford to supply their own food. For a little over $10,000 a year, The Apa Sherpa Foundation can help to ensure all students in Ghat, an area heavily affected by the 2015 earthquakes, are well fed.
The fundraiser will be at the Hot Chillys booth, #39081-UL starting at 5pm on January 25, 2018. To donate to the Apa Sherpa Foundation go to their website here.
