Hydro Flask Receives Two Red Dot Design Awards
April 14, 2016
Hydro Flask, the award-winning leader in high-performance, insulated stainless steel flasks now in the Housewares segment of Helen of Troy Limited (NASDAQ, NM: HELE), has won two Red Dot design awards for its 64 oz Wide Mouth Growler and Flex Cap products. A Red Dot award is recognized around the world as a distinction of design excellence, and only the most superior designs receive the sought-after seal. Participants from 57 nations registered approximately 5,200 products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016.
The Hydro Flask Growler received recognition for its proprietary Fresh Carry System™ cap that is leak-proof, keeping beer cold and carbonated for 24 hours or longer. The unique one-handed pour design allows for easy, ergonomic transport and ensures a perfect pour.
The Hydro Flask Flex Cap was acknowledged for its proprietary Honeycomb Insulation™ that provides a radiant barrier to lock in temperature. In addition, the cap was praised for its durable, leak-proof design and flexible TPE strap with integrated stainless steel pivots.
Forty-one experts from around the world – including freelance designers, design professors and specialized journalists – were selected to serve on the Red Dot jury. This independent expert panel assessed each entry against criteria such as degree of innovation, formal quality, functionality and ecological compatibility.
“With their performances, the Red Dot winners not only demonstrated an extraordinary design quality, but they also showed that design is an integral part of innovative product solutions,” said Red Dot Award President and Founder Professor Dr. Peter Zec.
“We are honored that two of Hydro Flask’s products were chosen to receive a Red Dot award,” said Hydro Flask Vice President of Product, David Visnack. “We have a tremendously talented team and these awards are a testament to their commitment to product innovation and exceptional design.”
The two Red Dot design awards follow the recent iF Design Award presented for the Hydro Flask Flex Cap in February. Additionally, in the past 9 months Hydro Flask was recognized as an REI Vendor of the Year, named one of the Healthiest Companies to Work for in America by Greatist.com, awarded the Community Applause Award by the Oregon Bankers Association and named to the Inc. 500 list of Fastest Growing Private Companies for a second year in a row. Hydro Flask has maintained its dedication to insulated products and uniquely refreshing experiences and has exploded to become the number one insulated hydration brand.

About the Red Dot Design Award
In order to appraise the wide scope of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award is broken down into the three distinct disciplines: the Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. The Red Dot Award is organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. With more than 17,000 entries in 2015 alone, it is one of the largest competitions in the world. It was in 1955 that a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. The name and brand of the award were developed in the 1990s by Red Dot CEO, Professor Dr. Peter Zec. Since then the sought-after “Red Dot” is the revered international seal of outstanding design quality. Further information: www.red-dot.org.
