Hyperlite Mountain Gear to Launch Volume-Optimizing, Stackable Pack Pods

Perfecting a Key Backpack Organizational Tool
March 30, Biddeford, ME: In early April, Hyperlite Mountain Gear will launch volume-optimizing and stackable Pack Pods, a key lightweight organizational and weatherproofing tool for extended backpacking or multi-discipline adventures.
“The key to optimization begins with organization,” says CEO Mike St. Pierre. “I needed to carry an abundance of food on my recent section hikes below the rim of the Grand Canyon due to the distance between caches and the difficulties of the terrain. Fully filled, traditional stuff sacks wasted valuable space because they were like footballs inside my pack. So we designed these clamshell-shaped Pack Pods to fit perfectly into our Hyperlite Mountain Gear packs. They leave no space unfilled, no volume unused.”
The Pack Pods worked so well on his first section hike, St. Pierre sent them out to the Hyperlite Mountain Gear Ambassador team for testing. After overwhelming positive feedback, the company decided to launch Small and Large versions to fit into all Hyperlite Mountain Gear 2400, 3400 and 4400 cubic inch packs.
“Pack Pods help tremendously to organize and categorize my pack’s contents,” says Trail Ambassador Samuel Martin. “I struggle to keep all of the loose gear in my pack organized, and the hunt to find a fork or camera battery can be challenging. Traditional stuff sacks do the job well, but Pack Pods do it better.”
