Inaugural Morakniv Adventure Blends Outdoor Education & Fun
May 25, 2017
Event attracts guests from 11 countries to Mora, Sweden
Seattle, WA – May 25, 2017 – Morakniv®, creator of quality Swedish knives since 1891, is celebrating the success of its first ever Morakniv Adventure. This unique event brought together people from all over the world for several days of workshops and fun in the beautiful forests of Mora, Sweden. Guests had the opportunity to learn bushcrafting, survival and woodcarving skills from Morakniv ambassadors and esteemed experts Dave Canterbury, Johan Skullman, Jögge Sundqvist and Beth Moen.
Nearly 60 participants travelled from 11 countries to attend the inaugural event, with all available spots selling out in just two days. The Adventure kicked off with an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of Morakniv’s factory, where guests witnessed the 126-year-old process of turning steel into high quality Mora knives. From there, they headed to base camp on the shores of a forest lake, where the workshops began in earnest. Over the next three days, participants learned and applied their new skills through various ambassador-led activities, including fire starting, passive fishing, navigation exercises, woodcarving and trapping. Each night, guests enjoyed food and music around the campfire, and the Adventure wrapped up with a proper Swedish feast cooked and shared under the main tent. In addition to new skills and memories from the experience of a lifetime, participants each took home three new Mora knives so they can continue utilizing the lessons they learned in Sweden.
Details on registration for next year’s Morakniv Adventure will be announced soon. Check out additional videos and photos from the event on the Morakniv Adventure Facebook page, YouTube channel or on Instagram by searching #moraknivadventure.
