Inaugural Title Nine Pitchfest Nonprofit Edition Announces 2021 Winners

Four women-led organizations honored in respective fields of reproductive rights, leadership, and outdoor programs

Emeryville, Calif, June 23, 2021 Title Nine, the adventure and outdoor apparel retailer that encourages women to risk, lead and own, is proud to announce the winners of it’s inaugural Pitchfest Nonprofit Edition. With nearly 100 applicants and nine finalists in the respective fields of reproductive rights, politics and leadership, and sports and outdoor programs, four incredible woman-founded organizations were awarded the largest prizes.

After much deliberation, the winners of the 2021 Title Nine Pitchfest Nonprofit Edition are: Bernadette Lim and Eli Jimenez of Freedom Community Clinic ($10,000); Kathren Murrell Stevenson of Gaia Passages ($5,000); Annmarie Baines of The Practice Space ($3,000); and Roxanne Christophe of Girls Crushing It ($3,000). All nine organizations that attended pitchfest received grant money.

“For these nonprofit organizations, fundraising and awareness are major hurdles to advancing their missions,” said Lisa Gilliland, Title Nine’s Community Builder and Pitchfest Organizer. “To be able to underpin their efforts with financial assistance and the support of our network is a true privilege and honor for the entire team at Title Nine. We are inspired and looking forward to growing our relationships with these powerful organizations.”

The first-annual Pitchfest NPE was a two-day immersive experience, including icebreaker games, workouts, workshops and panel sessions in between finalist pitches. Participants were able were able to network with Pitchfest NPE mentors and judges include Jen Gurecki, Founder – Coalition Snow, Editor – SISU Magazine, Executive Director – Zawadisha; Erin Badillo, Executive Director – Dress for Success SF; Noriko Morimoto, Chief Marketing Officer – Title Nine; Nettie Pardue, Executive Director – Outward Bound CA, Kailin Chou, Director of Membership Services – Alliance for Girls.

Title Nine,inspired by the groundbreaking 1972 equality legislation, is encouraged by the tenacity of these activistsin today’s space. As more women organizersfind communities of support, the old boys’club will begin to see the evolution of the new girls’network, and Title Nine aims to continue being a resource and a partner.
