“It’s like a hammock, but better” – TreePod introduces a novel way to relax with the new Cabana and Lounger

BOULDER, Colo. — TreePod – Hanging Habitats, the award-winning company behind the original portable treehouse, is expanding its line of hanging hideaways. The new TreePod Cabana and Lounger, featuring a more sophisticated look and open design, will launch on Kickstarter September 19.

Easy to set up with a single point of suspension and a 500-pound capacity, the Cabana and Lounger represent the evolution of the hammock and TreePod concept with an adult twist.

“Kids loved it from the start, but it seemed like parents were a little jealous. So we started tweaking the design for more universal appeal,” said Ricardo Bottome, founder of TreePod. “What we ended up with is like a hammock, but better. You can sit in different positions, you only need one tree, it fits multiple people and it’s shaded. And it just looks nice.”

Inspired by the Hermann Miller Magis Spun Chair, the new Lounger and Cabana have a distinct look from their brighter, more child-friendly predecessor. Made using a double-ring construction and durable canvas or mesh, both models have large entrances and a spacious feel. They will be available in three sizes – 4, 5 and 6 feet in diameter – and three earth-tone colors that seamlessly integrate with any space, inside or outside.

They are identical to each other except for the walls – the Lounger, with canvas walls, provides a more private, secluded nook, while the Cabana, with mesh walls, serves as more of a breezy, social space.

“It’s the perfect place to relax after work, to read your favorite book or just take a nap,” said Bottome.

Both models come with a convenient carrying case for storage or travel and weigh between 9 and 15 lbs. Accessories sold separately include a plush cushion, mosquito net, rain cover, and TreePod Stand (where there isn’t a suitable hanging point).
