Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Marks End of Successful Winter 2023-24 Season

Record-Breaking Late-Season Snowfall Delights Visitors; New Sublette Lift Will Debut Next Year

TETON VILLAGE, WYO. – APRIL 23, 2024/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) is pleased to announce the close of another successful winter season, the longest in the Resort’s history. The 2023-24 season wrapped up on April 14 after a total of 143 open days on the mountain and 447 inches of total snowfall that culminated in a series of heavy late-winter and early spring storms.

JHMR was able to open on time thanks to increased snowmaking capacity and overnight grooming. The Resort opened both the Apres Vous and Teewinot lifts for opening day on Nov. 24, and then steadily expanded lift openings with the Sweetwater, Casper, Bridger Gondola, Marmot, Thunder, and Sublette lifts all running by Dec. 9. The Aerial Tram opened on Dec. 15, offering access to Rendezvous Bowl and the top of Rendezvous Mountain.

JHMR utilized a reservation system and limited capacity on the mountain for the fourth consecutive year, with an advanced ticket sales system and reservations required for Ikon and Mountain Collective pass holders. These practices alleviated overcrowding and greatly improved guests’ experiences on the mountain and throughout the resort.

Late-season visitors were treated to the legendary conditions that JHMR is known for, thanks to heavy snowfall that began in mid-February and continued throughout early spring. JHMR reported 29 inches of snowfall from March 1-2, the highest amount ever recorded in a 24-hour period at the Resort. By the end of March the Resort reported 99 inches of snowfall for the month in Rendezvous Bowl, tied for the eighth-highest snowfall total on record for March and 147 percent of the 58-year average for the month.

Next winter we’ll switch on a brand new Sublette lift, our latest investment in creating an incredible experience for every guest who visits JHMR.”

JHMR also announced that it will replace its Sublette lift with a faster and more powerful detachable quad chairlift ahead of the 2024–25 winter season, cutting riding time in half for skiers and snowboarders exploring the south side of Rendezvous Mountain. The original Sublette lift was built in 1987 and provides access to a variety of intermediate and expert terrain just below Rendezvous Bowl. The new lift will cut ride time from eight minutes to four while climbing approximately 1,600 vertical feet at 1,000 feet per minute.

JMHR will begin removal of the original Sublette lift and installation of its replacement this summer, marking the second major lift renovation in the past three years at JHMR after a new Thunder lift was completed in 2022.
