La Sportiva expands Spring 2019 collection to meet increased demand for hiking products
July 13, 2018
(BOULDER, Colo.) – For the past several seasons, hiking has been the fastest growing category for La Sportiva and for Spring 2019, the brand debuts five new styles to further expand the collection. Expanding on the success of Nucleo and Spire, La Sportiva adds 2 new styles with Gore-Tex Surround, a traditionally constructed boot packed with value and the Trail Ridge series, the brand’s first non-waterproof hiking line in many years. Each model is packed with features and benefits for a specific hiker and will appeal to an ever-widening section of the outdoor market.
“Spring 2018 was the best season yet in hiking sales for our brand and we’re looking to sustain that growth,” says Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “Hikers expect their boots to perform well in a variety of difficult conditions and we have models that address nearly every condition one can find. From extremely wet, where Gore-Tex is a must, to hot and dry where breathability is key, we have a model that will get the job done.”
For Spring 2019, there are five new products in the hiking category overall. At the most technical end, La Sportiva continues to build on the success of its products featuring Gore-Tex Surround®. The Pyramid GTX and the Hyrax GTX are high and low cut leather models that use Gore-Tex Surround® for the best breathability in a waterproof boot, and both models will incorporate leather uppers for stability and a classic look. The Pyramid GTX will retail for $189 while the Hyrax will be $179.
Capturing a more traditional look and feel, the Eclipse GTX is a high-cut leather hiking and backpacking boot that uses the 3D Flex Cuff from the Trango Family of products for flexibility and mobility. This traditional brown boot will appeal to hikers who appreciate stability and performance over long miles, even while carrying a heavy pack. The Vibram XS Trek Sole with Impact Brake System provides all-day comfort and impact reduction that reduces fatigue over long miles in the $179 boot.
La Sportiva will also introduce two lightweight and versatile hiking boots that do not include a waterproof membrane. The Trail Ridge Mid and Trail Ridge Low are both nubuck hiking boots with comfortable, breathable uppers to keep feet cool and hikers moving fast. Lightweight non-waterproof boots are a significant portion of the North American hiking market and La Sportiva intends to appeal to its users. The Tempo 2 last fits a wide variety of foot types and features the Trail Rocker 2.0 sole whose technology comes from the brand’s Mountain running collection. The Trail Ridge Mid will retail for $129 and the Trail Ridge Low for $119.
The full line of Spring 2019 La Sportiva products, including footwear and apparel will be on display July 23-26, 2018, throughout the 2018 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Denver, at the La Sportiva booth #36039-UL.
