La Sportiva Revamps Ski Hardgoods Lineup and Expands Recycled Apparel Offerings for Fall 2020
January 27, 2020
January 27, 2020 (BOULDER, Colo.) – La Sportiva, makers of the world’s finest mountain footwear, is redesigning its ski hardgoods lineup with three new models of skis and a new boot. The brand is also expanding its new recycled apparel offerings for Fall 2020. The new ski models are based upon design characteristics and sizing that have worked well for the brand’s customers but utilize new materials and manufacturing. The recycled apparel collection draws upon the brand’s efforts to produce apparel that creates less environmental degradation.
“The ski market is constantly evolving, and we’ve revamped our skis to align with current demands” says Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “The Capo, Tempo, and Salto skis are all lightweight touring skis that are durable due to the wood core construction and hit an accessible price point. On the apparel side, we continue to push into even more sustainable textiles and construction techniques to produce a line of apparel that is not only attractive, but customers can feel good about buying it.”
The new Capo and Tempo skis utilize the same construction with a lightweight Poplar core that is supported by Paulownia strips and carbon reinforcement. Both have rocker built into the tip and tail for easier turn initiation and completion. The Capo is 117mm in the waist and available in 166, 178, and 189 mm lengths. It will retail for $899. The Tempo is 103 in the waist and available in 168, 179, and 190 mm lengths. It will retail for $799. The Salto construction varies in that it is laminated Paulownia with vertical aluminum reinforcements. This keeps the ski very lightweight but stiff to hold an edge in mixed conditions or steep no-fall situations. The Salto has a 92mm waist and is available in 168, 178, and 188 mm lengths for a retail price of $999.
In ski boots, the new Men’s and Women’s Vega feature class-leading 60-degree range of motion in walk mode and lightweight tourability. Compatible with all tech and frame-style touring bindings, the Vega utilizes four traditional buckles for simple closure of the boot. The 115-flex boot has a last width of 102.5 and will retail for $679.
For apparel, La Sportiva has integrated a significant amount of recycled material into the line. Starting with insulation, the brand’s best-selling category, the new Gemini Hoody for men and Alaris Hoody for women utilize recycled Pontotorto fabric for an extremely soft next-to-skin feel in a warm recycled garment that will retail for $129. The Marak Jacket for men and Maya Jacket for women utilizes recycled high loft fleece for an even warmer insulated hoody that will retail for $159. In shells, the Macnas Hoody and Levia Hoody for women is a full-zip hybrid shell with stretch that is 20Kmm waterproof. The recycled soft-shell hybrid will retail for $159.
The full line of Fall 2020 La Sportiva products, including footwear and apparel for climbing, hiking, mountaineering and mountain running, along with ski hard goods will be on display throughout the 2020 Outdoor Retailer Snow Show at the La Sportiva booth #36039.
