November 16, 2017
Follow the Liters program to deliver safe drinking water to one millionth child in 2018
LAUSANNE, Switzerland (November 16, 2017) – LifeStraw®, a global leader in developing innovative filtration and purification products for safe drinking water, has introduced its next generation of consumer water filtration products in time for the holidays. New products include: LifeStraw Play, the industry’s first and only two-stage filtration bottle for kids; LifeStraw Universal, an adapter kit fitting popular water bottle brands; and LifeStraw Flex, a versatile multi-use filter meeting the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF 53) standard for lead reduction. The expanded product line advances LifeStraw’s Follow the Liters humanitarian program, which will bring safe water to over one million children in developing countries. All new products are available at www.lifestraw.com and at retailers.
LifeStraw Play ($39.95), available in five colors with playful character stickers, is a sturdy leak-proof bottle that is dishwasher safe. The 10-oz. water bottle’s two-stage filtration system removes 99.999999% of bacteria including E. coli, and 99.999% of protozoa including Giardia and Cryptosporidium, while improving taste and reducing chlorine.
LifeStraw Universal ($34.95) is an adapter kit with two-stage filtration that can transform most popular water bottles into a powerful LifeStraw filter. It includes two screw caps for popular wide and standard mouthed bottles and an interchangeable filter. It removes bacteria and protozoa, while improving taste and reducing chlorine, minimizing the need for consumers to carry plastic disposable water bottles.
LifeStraw Flex ($34.95) has maximum versatility, with five options for use, each reducing bacteria, protozoa and meeting the NSF 53 testing standard to reduce heavy metals like lead. It may be used: alone as a straw; with the included squeeze bottle; with a generic water bottle; with most hydration bladders; or with LifeStraw Mission, a gravity powered water purification bladder ideal for group activities.
Retail sales of all LifeStraw products support LifeStraw’s annual Follow the Liters campaign which distributes water purifiers to schools in rural parts of Kenya, including education on safe water and hygiene and follow-up. Since its 2014 launch, more than 1,000 schools and over 629,000 school children have received safe water. The next distribution campaign will take place in Kenya in February 2018, when the one millionth child will be reached. LifeStraw users and enthusiasts can enter a contest for a chance to win a trip to join the distribution in Kenya. Entry details will be available at www.lifestraw.com at the end of November.
