Expanded product line supports Follow the Liters program, delivering safe drinking water to one millionth child in 2018
LAUSANNE, Switzerland (October 11, 2017) – LifeStraw®, a global leader in developing innovative filtration and purification products for safe drinking water, is introducing its next generation of consumer water filtration products this fall. These include LifeStraw Play, the industry’s first two-stage filtration bottle designed for kids, LifeStraw Universal, an adapter kit fitting popular water bottle brands and LifeStraw Flex, a versatile multi-use filter meeting the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF 53) standard for lead reduction. The expanded product line brings consumers more versatile, high performing water filtration solutions. It also furthers LifeStraw’s commitment to provide safe drinking water to developing communities through its ongoing Follow the Liters humanitarian program. In 2018, this mass water filter distribution campaign will achieve a major milestone – by reaching its one millionth child. All new products are available at www.lifestraw.com and at specialty retailers.
LifeStraw Play ($39.95), available in five colors with playful character sticker options, is the only two-stage filtration water bottle specifically designed for kids. The 10-oz. water bottle’s two-stage filtration system removes 99.999999% of bacteria including E. coli, and 99.999% of protozoa including Giardia and Cryptosporidium, while improving taste and reducing chlorine. The sturdy leak-proof bottle is easy to clean with components that are dishwasher safe.
LifeStraw Universal ($34.95) is an adapter kit with two-stage filtration that transforms most popular water bottles into a powerful LifeStraw filter. It includes two screw caps for popular wide and standard mouthed bottles and an interchangeable filter that removes bacteria and protozoa, while improving taste and reducing chlorine, minimizing the need for consumers to carry plastic disposable water bottles.
LifeStraw Flex ($34.95) offers maximum versatility, giving consumers five filtration options for use, each of which reduces bacteria, protozoa and has met the NSF 53 testing standard to reduce heavy metals like lead. It may be used: alone as a straw; with the included squeeze bottle; with a generic water bottle; with most hydration bladders; or with LifeStraw Mission, a gravity powered water purification bladder ideal for group activities.
“This new line of products not only provides peace of mind to parents and consumers concerned about the quality of the water they drink, but also helps to reduce the use of plastic bottles,” said Alison Hill, managing director of LifeStraw. “Parents now have the confidence that their children have convenient access to clean water at school, with friends or outdoors. Consumers may now use our best in class filtration technology with their favorite water bottle. Lastly, we are providing an easy to use, safe technology that reduces lead.”
Through Follow the Liters, product sales in the North America and Europe support LifeStraw’s annual distribution of water purifiers to schools in rural parts of Kenya which includes education on safe water and hygiene and follow-up. Since the program launched in 2014, more than 1,000 schools and over 629,000 school children have received safe water, making the program one of the largest private investments in safe water in schools globally. In June, LifeStraw was given a Halo Gold Award, North America’s highest honor for corporate responsibility and cause marketing, recognizing businesses and nonprofits for doing well by doing good.
