Liv Cycling Introduces Intrigue 29 Trail Bike Series

Liv‘s First 29er Trail Bike Engineered and Designed for Women Delivers High Performance on Epic Climbs and Rowdy Descents

NEWBURY PARK, Calif. (Aug. 4, 2020) – Liv Cycling, the company dedicated to getting more women on bikes, today introduced Intrigue 29, its first 29er trail bike. Offering adjustable frame geometry, Maestro suspension and a 29-inch tubeless Boost wheelset, Intrigue 29 doesn’t sacrifice climbing agility or control while descending.

“The Intrigue 29 was designed to be a hard charging, versatile all-mountain trail bike that can tackle techy singletrack and aggressive terrain with ease,” said Ludi Scholz, Liv global off-road category manager. “Now featuring 29-inch wheels and a flip chip that allows riders to quickly adjust the geometry of the bike to better suit how and where they ride, Intrigue 29 is the go-to trail bike for climbing up or rolling over anything.”

Flip chip adjustable frame geometry offers the flexibility to make slight adjustments to the geometry of the bike using eccentric, two-position hardware located in the Advanced Forged Composite rocker arm. Depending on preference, riders can choose a high or low position to make the headtube and seattube angles steeper or slacker, and the bottom bracket height higher or lower.

From a riding perspective, in the high position, a steeper headtube and seattube angle makes the bike handle quicker and places the rider in a more aggressive climbing position. A higher bottom bracket also improves pedal clearance, allowing riders to pedal through rocky and rooty terrain with fewer pedal strikes, making the high position ideal for slower, tighter, more technical terrain. In the low position, the lower bottom bracket height, and slacker headtube and seattube angle lowers the center of gravity of the bike and places the front wheel a bit farther out in front of the rider. This position gives the bike more stability at speed, and the rider increased confidence on steeper terrain.

The Intrigue 29 was built using Liv’s 3F design philosophy which applies to the frame geometry and suspension tuning. Gathering worldwide female-only dimensional data, Liv designs and engineers frame geometry specifically for women by optimizing weight distribution on the bike which puts the rider in the best position to maximize power and efficiency where she employs her most powerful muscles. Additionally, Liv tunes suspension specifically for women so it performs optimally for female riders and for each bike design’s intended use and experience. This results in improved traction, control and confidence. These tuning configurations are created with the support of Liv suspension partners, athletes, pro racers, and staff.

Balanced Agility

The Intrigue 29 features Giant’s leading Maestro suspension technology with an ultra-light, torsionally stiff Advanced Forged Composite rocker arm and trunnion-mount shock for 125mm of rear travel with a 140mm fork. Liv’s custom-tuned set up provides improved pedaling and braking efficiency, making it agile on technical climbs and stable on rowdy descents.

No Compromise Build

With a front triangle and rear swingarm crafted from ALUXX SL, the Intrigue 29 frameset offers best-in-class strength-to-weight ratios featuring unique welding technologies for a high-performance ride quality. The Intrigue 29 models are equipped with a 1×12 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, dropper seatpost, new and improved downtube and chainstay protectors, and Liv’s all-new Sylvia saddle, sparing no detail for the ultimate trail bike.

Performance and Handling

Intrigue 29’s Overdrive steerer with oversized headset bearings (1 1/2” lower and 1 1/8” upper) and tapered steerer tube work in conjunction to provide precise front-end steering stiffness and performance. The bike’s 29-inch wheels feature Boost hub spacing for stiffer wheel performance, added tire clearance (up to 2.5-inch), and improved handling on the trail. Additionally, Intrigue 29 models feature tubeless wheelset and tires, offering dependable traction and a reduced risk of flat tires.
