The UK alpinist brand introduces its lightest bags to date for Spring 25.

TORONTO (March 26, 2025) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Mountain Equipment, the English pioneer of high alpine gear and apparel, for Spring 25 introduces the Xenith sleeping bag collection featuring its lightest sleeping bags to date. Building on the success of its award winning, lightweight Oreus jacket, the Xenith sleeping bags maximize warmth at minimal weights and are designed for those looking to move fast or far in the mountains in the warmer seasons.

“We continue to create new ways to push the boundaries of weight to warmth ratios, allowing users to go further and higher more comfortably and under lighter loads,” said Bill Supple, Mountain Equipment North American Managing Director. “The Xenith range has a model to meet the demands of any alpine adventurer from ultralight explorers to those likely to encounter below freezing temperatures on their journeys.”

The Xenith range includes three models, each featuring RDS certified 900-fill goose down and Mountain Equipment’s PLASMA 10D fabric, the same outer fabric used in the Oreus. PLASMA fabrics are incredibly light, breathable and feature a PFAS-free DWR. To promote thermal efficiency each bag has an alpine fit and multiple baffle designs including vertical box wall baffles in the chest and slant baffles in the main body.

The Xenith I, the lightest bag in the collection is designed for minimalists looking to go fast and light. Foregoing a hood for additional weight savings, the bag weighs 360 grams with a temperature rating of 5°C/41°F. The Xenith I features a stitch through baffle back design and a grown on anatomically shaped and offset foot-box.

The Xenith II, rated to 1C°/ 34°F, is for those looking to explore higher and cooler elevations. The 270-gram bag has a 5-baffle low volume anatomically shaped hood that easily cinches around the head for protection and warmth. It has the same stitch through back as the Xenith I, but has a 3 baffle anatomically shaped and offset foot-box for additional foot warmth.

The Xenith III is designed for adventurers venturing into environments that might experience below freezing temperatures. Rated to -7C°/19°F, the Xenith III has more than twice the fill weight of the Xenith I, while only weighing 690 grams in total. It has the same hood as the Xenith II, but the anatomically shaped and offset foot-box features 4 baffles and the back features slant baffles for superior warmth.

Each model comes with a roll top stuff sack and a storage cube. Long versions are also available for each model.
