Mountainsmith Announces New Scream Series Ultra Light Packs and Vasquez Peak Series Tents for 2018

Golden, CO (July 17, 2017) – Mountainsmith—craftsmen of iconic backcountry equipment and recreational outdoor gear— takes their light, backcountry gear to another level with their announcement to redesign the brand’s popular Scream series ultra light packs, as well as introduce the Vasquez Peak series in line with their extensive line of backpacking tents. These products will debut at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market this month and be available to consumers in January 2018.

Mountainsmith’s Scream Series packs will be redesigned with 210d Robic HT Nylon, a lightweight pack cloth that the brand has enhanced with a UTS coating for added durability. On top of this significant change in in fabric, the Scream 55 will see multiple feature updates, including a roll top access point with opposing hardware, allowing for top loop cinching as well as side compression closure. Mountainsmith has also added a U-shape zipper access to the main compartment of this pack for added accessibility. In addition, the brand will introduce the Scream 20, an incredibly light daypack that doubles as a compression sack, and the Scream 50 WSD, a women’s specific version of the Scream 55 designed to offer a more tailored fit for women.

A backpack that converts to a compression sack, tuck it into the Scream 55 for ultra light peak bagging or minimalist day hikes.

In a move to bolster the brand’s already diverse tent line, Mountainsmith will also introduce the Vasquez Peak series for 2018. This line will prove to be Mountainsmith’s most innovative tent series with best-in-class waterproofing and an even roomier shelter experience than its predecessors. Significant product features include inter-connected pole design with a cross-over brow pole for maximum interior space and steeper pitched door panels, rain/wind catch flaps on all fly window openings and a bath tub floor construction with Silicon treatment to combat harsh rains.

Mountainsmith Vasquez Peak 2 | MSRP: $279.95

Just under 4.5 pounds on trail, this 2-person tent offers added head space, best-in-class waterproofing, and a stable design without the added weight. Ditch the body and utilize the included footprint for a sub-4 pound backcountry shelter.

Mountainsmith Vasquez Peak 3 | MSRP: $299.95

Just over 5-pounds on the trail, this roomy, 3-person tent offers an excellent balance of size, weight and stability. Utilize the included footprint for a fast fly set up or extra protection from the elements.
