MSR Names Scott Youmans Stoves and Combustion Category Manager

SEATTLE, Wash. (January 31, 2018)Mountain Safety Research® (MSR®), the Seattle-based leader in high-performance outdoor equipment, has named Scott Youmans as its Stoves and Combustion Category Manager. The category includes award-winning stove systems like the WindBurner, ultra-lightweight designs such as the PocketRocket 2, and adventure-tested industry standards like the WhisperLite, DragonFly and XGK-EX stoves.

Youmans, based out of MSR’s Seattle headquarters, will put his fifteen-plus years of engineering experience and education into the continuation of MSR’s leadership in the stove and combustion category. He will work closely with a team of MSR engineers in MSR’s stove testing and innovation lab, where the next generation of outdoor stoves are designed, tested, and manufactured.

Youmans joined MSR in 2015 as a Design Engineer, after nearly seven years at K2 Sports as a Snowshoe Development Engineer. At MSR he most recently led the design on a series of outdoor camp cookware products. He is also a contributor to the company’s military-funded projects, building long-term commercialization business cases for the success of the brand’s military contract work.
