Scotty Hawker races to 3rd place in this years edition of the UTMB

The jewel in the prestigious UTWT (Ultra Trail World Tour) crown, the 170km UTMB (Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc) took place this last weekend starting in the idyllic mountain town of Chamonix, France. The UTMB is the culmination of a series of races in various distances that race through the Alps of France, Italy and Switzerland. It is the one race more than 2500 Elite Pro’s and amateurs alike highlight on their racing calendar as the must race event.

Scotty Hawker, of New Zealand, started strong but battled with leg problems through the night and dropped to as low as 40^th place. Using his extensive experience and race craft Scotty managed to recover and slowly started to regain positions eventually speeding into Chamonix and capturing 3^rdplace with a time of 21:48:04.

As per tradition, Scotty ran the last 100 meters hand in hand with his 3 year old daughter.

After a difficult 2018 season Hawker adjusted his nutrition and 2019 is seeing the results of this positive change. To date his season results have been; 5^th at the Hong Kong 100km, 1^st at Mt Solitary Ultra 48km in China, 3^rd at the Retazat Sky Race in Romania, 3^rd at the Lavaredo Ultra Dolomites 87km in Italy and 2^nd at the Grossglockner KTT 50km in Germany.
