The lightweight chair offers first-in-class adjustable seating, from upright to reclining.
[DOVER, NH, March 9, 2021] — NEMO, an award-winning designer of outdoor gear and accessories that are built to improve the experience of adventure, has won Backpacker’s coveted Editors’ Choice award for its new, lightweight, packable Moonlite™ Reclining Chair. “Just nine standout products emerged from a testing season like no other,” according to a Backpacker press release.
Moonlite™ brings a new sitting experience and design standard to the lightweight chair category. With welded construction, seamless seating, ball-and-socket connections, forged aluminum hubs and oversized thin-walled tubing, no other lightweight chair can match the quality, functionality and comfort. Moonlite’s™ rock-solid feel puts the user’s mind at ease, a recurring topic in reviews of lightweight chairs, as many sacrifice a supportive frame for weight savings. Its first-in-class, patent-pending design and hardware offer adjustable seating positions for dining, remote working, napping, or anything in between. Moonlite™ packs down small to fit in a backpack or messenger bag.
“Moonlite™ is the most comfortable chair at this weight we’ve ever sat in,” said Backpacker’s Gear Editor, Eli Bernstein. “For less than two pounds, you get an adjustable, sturdy piece of camp furniture that will turn your next campfire session into a true exercise in relaxation.”
The camp furniture category continues to see dramatic growth. During the pandemic, NEMO sold through a years’ worth of Stargaze™ Recliners in three months, selling through all inventory on its website and through retailers.Moonlite‘s™ Initial bookings for 2021 clearly demonstrate that it will be an instant leader in the lightweight category according to recent NPD data. The benefit for retailers is that NEMO’s top-selling Stargaze™ Recliner and Moonlite™ RecliningChair offer two different sitting experiences targeting different uses and users. Moonlite™ represents a substantial additional sales opportunity.
“It’s incredibly difficult to take less than 2 lbs of material and make a chair that can safely support 300 lbs sitting down, while being comfortable and inclusive for a range of body types,” said Product Designer, Zack Kamen. “The custom engineered asymmetrical mesh, and articulating ball and socket corner connections, conform to each user’s body shape, compared to the competition which makes your body to conform to the seat. Additionally, we quickly realized no other lightweight chair reclines, and saw an opportunity to add functionality that users would enjoy. The challenge was designing a buckle that has fine adjustment in both directions, which we solved with a new patent-pending design.”
NEMO has been working to educate itself on impactful, scientifically proven actions it can take to make a difference in climate change and sustainability.
