OSLO, Norway (Oct. 26, 2022) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Norrøna, the four season, family-owned Norwegian manufacturer of premium apparel and gear, teams up with industry leading Swiss watchmaker, Ulysse Nardin, to launch the new DIVER NORRØNA Arctic Night Watch. Through this collaboration, Norrøna and Ulysse Nardin achieve their shared environmental commitments by designing the most sustainably built watch ever in the Ulysse Nardin portfolio. To accompany the launch, Ulysse Nardin is also proud to announce its partnership with Norwegian polar explorer and Norrøna ambassador, Børge Ousland.
29 limited-edition watches will be available for sale, each coming with a Norrøna arktis Gore- Tex® Pro Jacket. The development of the Norrøna arktis jacket started in 2005 with contributions from Børge Ousland. The jacket is the result of Norrøna’s decades of product development expertise combined with Ousland’s expedition experience, to create the perfect equipment for Arctic exploration. As part of the partnership with Ulysse Nardin, the limited edition arktis jacket will display the watchmaker’s logo.
“The collaboration with Ulysse Nardin has been an amazing opportunity for us to partner with a complementary brand who has the same shared love for nature, rich heritage and ambition for shifting to a more circular and sustainable business model,” says Norrøna CEO Jørgen Jørgensen. “Our brands are on important paths to building the most sustainable creations in our respective domains and partnering with like-minded organizations is one fundamental way to amplify our message of improving the planet while still making best-in-class products.”
The DIVER NORRØNA Arctic Night Watch’s sustainability features include:
- The side-case and the case-back of the new DIVER NORRØNA are made of 40% Carbonium®, which has a 40% lower environmental impact than other carbon composites, making use of the offcuts of aircraft parts and of 60% recycled fishing nets called Nylo®
- The stainless-steel watch case is made up of 80% recycled automotive materials
- The bezel decoration is made of 100% Carbonium®
- The wrist strap with scratch closing is made from 100% recycled fishing nets
- Finally, all components of the UN-118 automatic manufacture movement are sourced in Switzerland, almost all within a 30-kilometer radius of the manufacturing facility
“I live by the quote ‘be the change you want to see in the world’. If you are part of the problem, you also have to be part of the solution. Since I first set foot on the Polar Ocean in 1990, the ice coverage has decreased by more than 60%. In my lifetime, it’s become a totally different landscape, and it is happening due to climate change,” says Børge Ousland, Polar and world-renowned explorer. “But I believe problems are good in a way, because it’s how we deal with these challenges we meet that define who we really are. And maybe, we can use this enormous challenge that climate change truly represents to bring out the best in us and reveal what humanity can become.”
The limited-edition DIVER NORRØNA Arctic Night will be sold with an arktis Gore-Tex® Pro Norrøna jacket exclusively on www.ulysse-nardin.com starting November 2, 2022, at MSRP $12,600.

About Norrøna: In 1929, Jørgen Jørgensen, a Norwegian outdoor enthusiast, began his search for durable outdoor equipment to perform in Norway´s harsh and rugged land. Starting with simple innovations such as leather straps, canvas backpacks and cotton clothing, he set Norrøna’s direction: To search for the best in technical advancements and to create the ultimate performance products. Today, four generations later, Norrøna is still a family-owned and run company and a leader in the growing market of sustainable sportswear. www.norrona.com
About Ulysse Nardin: Founded by Mr. Ulysse Nardin in 1846, the company owes its reputation to its links with the sea: its onboard marine chronometers are among the most award-winning and reliable ever designed. A pioneer in innovative technologies and the use of high-tech materials such as silicium, Ulysse Nardin is one of the few integrated manufactures with the in-house expertise to produce its own high-precision components and movements. In 2001, the Maison changed the face of contemporary watchmaking by launching the first Freak. To underscore its commitment to its favorite environment, Ulysse Nardin is active in supporting the preservation of the Ocean, focusing on two major areas: encouraging upcycling to reduce marine plastic pollution and developing scientific knowledge concerning the preservation of the sharks, its emblem.
